Spectacular lunch during a ski break - salads and burgers were very good. They even offer a kid's meal at a great price. Service was very attentive. The patio has heaters and offers great people watching!

This is a place where the good and the great can be found enjoying excellent cooking and professional service. Unlike Cloud 9, which aims for the same crowd, The Ajax Tavern is as good as the hype

If you want a good, wholesome and substantial meal for lunch whilst skiing or for dinner it's hard to go past this cafe/bar/restaurant at the terminal/ base of the gondola in Aspen. The meals are well prepared and meal portions are substantial. Good wine list. Attentive staff. Recommended!

I was glad we had reservations here even though it was a weekday night. It was quite busy when we arrived and had to be seated in the far back by the kitchen doors (I guess the OpenTable VIP designation doesn’t really mean much anymore). Even though the table wasn’t in the most ideal location, it gave us a good view of the entire dining room.

Our server was lovely. She had nailed the perfect balance between discreet attentiveness and aloof friendliness.

I enjoyed my warm Gluhwein – it went down a little too easy, if you know what I mean. Our appetizer of the huge cone of truffle fries was delicious – there were probably two large potatoes-worth. If we had had a party of four, this would have been a great size, but as we were only two, it regrettably filled me up. I could only eat half of my satisfyingly tasty ham croissant, and hubs could only finish half of his Double Double hamburger, which was excellent. We learned our lesson, so next time we’re splitting an entrée.

Bottom line: It’s a great place for apres and casual dinner!

Nice outdoor patio facing the mountain. Stopped in on a beautiful sunny, warm October Sunday afternoon. We drove over independence pass from Twin lakes. That in itself was a beautiful ride. The food ( salads and apps) and drinks at Ajax were good. The mac n cheese is to die for. A little pricey for a Bloody Mary, even for us Chicago travelers. We sat outside, the Service was great, friendly, staff was attentive to our Needs. The inside restaurant was quaint, clean, with a nice bar area. Only wish we were the week earlier, to enjoy the gondola ride up the mountain. Try it. You'll,like it.
