Everything about The White House Tavern is exactly right. The atmosphere is welcoming, staff is excellent and the food is perfection. We came for lunch on a weekday and the place was already crowded even though it wasn't yet noon. While waiting for our table we had a glass of wine at the bar served by a bartender who could not have been nicer and had fun chatting with the other lunch patrons. Once seated at our high-top, our server was smiling and patient, one of the best we've had anywhere (and Aspen servers can be very indifferent). We'd been told that the crispy chicken sandwich is the best thing on the menu, and it was simply fantastic. Deviled eggs and chicken meatballs were also delicious. This was our best meal in Aspen and we can't wait to return!

So great! We enjoyed a visit to White House Tavern with our kids (gasp, 4 young ladies) and the group at White House accommodated our every need, even preparing chocolate chip cookies prior to us finishing dinner. Always a show stopping meal (not an extensive menu but each item is PERFECT) with great service in a friendly atmosphere. A sure thing for us in Aspen, whether we’re there for a lunch meeting, a pre-dinner drink or dinner for adults (or with kids!). Perfection again - thank you for a great experience!

During our whitewater rafting experience, our tour guide suggested that we try the crispy chicken sandwich. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated outside along the street and it was a great experience. The sandwich was delicious but I am glad my wife and I split it because it will definitely feed 2 people and we saved $21.00 on a 2nd sandwich. The disappointing thing about our visit was the service. We ran out of water a couple of times and had to wait on our check but the food was delicious

We stopped here because it was rated as one of the best places to eat in Aspen. I could not disagree more. The menu is very limited and overpriced, the server was pretentious, bordering on rude and the bar is unable to make anything but very basic drinks with limited brand options. That all being said, this is simply my opinion as I prefer more down to earth places that serve pub grub and play country music. This restaurant may be a great option for those that enjoy this type of atmosphere. It just wasn’t my thing.

Lovely little quaint place for really tasty eats. The menu was limited as we visited just after COVID lock down was lifted, however each item was delicious and super fresh. In my opinion the chicken sandwich was the winner!! We were recommended this by a lady we met poolside at the St Regis - it really didn’t disappoint. Our pet Poodle ‘Colin’ came along and they were very accommodating with him being in the patio! A must try when in Aspen!

My husband and I enjoyed lunch here while vacationing in Colorado. The restaurant is small but so cute. There is some outdoor seating where we enjoyed our meal. They are known for their crispy chicken sandwich so had to try one of those. It was delicious. I ordered the French dip which was very good. However I didn’t realize they used prime rib and it was rarer than I like my meat cooked. The sandwiches are very large and we were wishing we would have split a sandwich. We also ordered the French fries and they were great. Matthew took care of us and he was very friendly and did a great job, the restaurant is located just 2 blocks from the main shopping area so easy walking distance. Think you’ll enjoy your experience here.

On a recent trip to Aspen, my wife and I made sure to stop in at White House Tavern for lunch, since we had read so many great things about it, but missed it on our last Aspen trip. It turns out that the glowing reviews were correct – it was a really excellent lunch spot that we’d definitely return to in the future. As the name implies, White House Tavern is located in a cute little white house on a corner in Downtown Aspen. It’s quaint and cozy inside, with a casual but very warm feel, with lots of wood paneling and generally Western-feeling accents. The place is really small, with a bar with some seating and then just a single row of tables around the perimeter. We got there before noon on a Monday, and all the tables were already full. It was clear that many people get here right at opening to make sure they get a table. We were offered to either sit at the bar, put our name on the list for a table, or sit outside, which had heaters but wouldn’t have been comfortable that day. We decided to sit at the bar, and had a good experience. The bartender who served us was quite nice and really attentive, since we were sitting right by her station at the bar. We had the crispy chicken sandwich (which they seem to be most known for), as well as the French dip sandwich. Both were really good, although I thought the chicken sandwich was particularly excellent and definitely lived up to the hype. It was just perfectly breaded and had a great sauce. We also split an order of fries that came with some nice dipping sauces and a great seasoning blend. The meal was quick and easy, and food came out really fast after we ordered it. We were in and out very quickly, which worked fine for us that day, but it didn’t seem to be set up to be a place to really linger, unless you were maybe ordering drinks and having multiple rounds. I highly recommend White House Tavern, and think it’s really a great lunch place, probably the best we’ve been to in Aspen.

Food is solid, service is quick. Been many times and the kale salad and burgers are great. Try to get a seat outside. Inside is a bit dark and cramped. Suggest putting your name on meat and cheese wait list as well across the street and go to whichever calls you first.

Cozy atmosphere, delicious food. Perfect after a grueling hike. Jalapeño margarita amazing. The $20 chicken sandwich amazing, they make there own bread it’s shiny on top, soft and a little sweet. The cream corn is a little Smokey and sweet and creamy. $90 lunch well spent!

We came here for lunch randomly as it looked super cute from the outside. It's small but cozy with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is limited but worked well for lunch. I don't eat meat but my friend does and we both found items that worked though I will say if you are strictly vegetarian (no seafood) or vegan this could be tough. They do have a couple of good size salads that you can order without the meat but you will be limited to a salad. I had the smoked salmon while my friend had the Macho salad - we both enjoyed our picks. We came back another day with a group of four for drinks and a light app before dinner. The wines are decent and the margarita (ask for light agave if you want true coin style) and Dark & Stormy were great! We also had the Spinach & Artichoke dip which is a must! Overall, it's a great place to stop in for a drink/apps and we will be coming back here for sure!

I think my only complaint would be that the menu is too small and really geared toward lunch. Id love to see some better dinner entrees on it. Other than that, the space is beautiful and cozy and the service is perfection. We got sandwiches and they were both delicious.

We stopped by looking for a casual place to have snacks and a drink, and We were seated immediately at an outdoor table . We ordered a number of things to sample and each were delicious. Really enjoyed the meatballs, the kale salad we so good we ordered a 2nd, and both the chicken and fish sandwiches were very enjoyable. The wine list offerings by the glass while not extensive had some very good selections that we enjoyed. Add in excellent service and it was a great experience.

This place did not disappoint. Based on other reviews we got there for an early dinner around 5:00pm the day before Christmas Eve and there was no wait. The inside is small, comfortable, and casual. The smoke trout dip was good as were the truffle fries. The burger was excellent as was the service. There is even outdoor seating in the winter under heaters with blankets provided.

Our hotel recommended this place for lunch and we are glad they did. It was very busy when we arrived with a 45 minute wait and we were really hungry. Fortunately there was room to eat at the bar which we really enjoyed. The food was all delicious with a very nice server and not too expensive considering that it is in Aspen. Recommended. Excellent Macho salad!

We were greeted by the hostess and requested to have a cocktail. She informed us that the outdoor tables were for meals only, which we understood but only two of six were occupied. We were informed that cocktail service was available on the benches along the sidewalk. This was absolutely fine but we were promptly ignored for 15 minutes, then informed the hostess we’d been waiting, she offered nothing and we left.
