Since Sep 2008

65+ year old male

Cincinnati, Ohio

My wife and I both caught the travel bug when we made big "out west" camping trips with our families when we were teenagers. Theh, in the early 70's, energized with "save the world" fervor, we sought to study as much of the world as we could in a one-month around-the-world study trip. Since then, we've tried to get out of the US at least once a year. Our most memorable trips are those when we made space for the unexpected to happen. Often that happens when we go outside our comfort zone and find ourselves dependent on our wits and the kindness of strangers to pull us through. I hate spending more than $100 a night for a room, and that's caused us to discover both delightful bargains and awful dives. I wish we'd had tripadvisor starting in the 60's!
