I travel for a living (I'm a professional pilot), so I've stayed literally in all types of places all over the planet. I'm a firm believer in reviewing a hotel/restaurant/attraction based on where it actually is, rather than comparing it to something completely unrelated. For instance, my recent review on Mountain Trails Lodge in Fort Davis, TX is from the perspective of standing in the middle of nowhere in West Texas, not from standing on Central Park West in NYC. Get it? I love traveling (I'd better). I love sleeping in different places (I'd really better). I like going out of my way to find local diggs vs. the corporate chains you find everydamnwhere, which is not always easy. I have a travel philosophy I like to call "one street over." The idea is that you find the main tourist-y spot in a place, then head at least "one street over" from there- THAT's where you find the really good stuff! Luxury to Dirt Camping. I love it all!
