Our one rule of travel-no chain restaurants. When in NYC, I have asked hotel employees where they would go for a meal, not where to direct a tourist. In Greenwich Village, I asked a gentleman entering his home where he would go for lunch. He directed us to a delightful restaurant with only 9 tables. I'm not sure exactly what I ate but it was delicious. In Ireland , our family was going to dinner at the Woolshed but they wouldn't let us in because it was too close to nine pm and our youngest was only 16. We found a charming Italian restaurant across the street to celebrate her 16th birthday. It's fun to see the main attractions of a city but don't forget to walk off the path sometimes.
