I live about 30 minutes south of Asheville in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains area of Western North Carolina. I moved here from Long Island, where I grew up, in 2002 after visiting the area and falling in love with it with its natural beauty, abundant outdoors activities and great craft beer scene.
I am a recreational triathlete, doing one or two local races a year, and while swimming is my best event and one that I enjoy training for with my training buddies at the YMCA, my favorite is the running - particularly trail running in Pisgah National Forest about 25 minutes from where I live.
I also love waterfall exploring, and there are many to explore here in this area.
I especially love good beer, and have been writing about beer, attending beer-tasting festivals, hosting beer-tasting parties and visiting breweries for several years.
In September 2012, the day after Labor Day, I plan to leave on a 32-day journey out West that will incorporate all of these things.
