Since Sep 2007

I have travelled in many countries of the world, but mostly Europe in recent years. I prefer to travel by public transport - train or boat where possible, or bus or taxi at a pinch. As I am disabled this is sometimes a challenge! Our favourite trips are to small historic towns away from the main tourist trails, where you can get a real experience of local life and customs (see for example my review of Saluzzo in Piedmont, Northern Italy - although this is sadly no longer reachable by train, at least for the present). We often spend time visiting places in the county of Norfolk, UK where we live - there is always something new to discover (see for example my posts on Wells and Ludham). We have often visited France and Northern Italy, and recently discovered a gem of a place in the Roya Valley (up the little train line linking Nice & Ventimiglia with Cuneo and Turin) called La Brigue; lately we enjoyed a visit to the wonderful Lago di Garda and Sirmione.
