Since Apr 2008

65+ year old male

Southern Thailand.

Retired, now living in beautiful Southern Thailand with my partner. Travelled professionally for 31 years. Now travel 2/3 times a year, mainly on cruises, but land holidays as well. We like an occasional treat in a 5 star hotel, but always try to get the best deal individually, rather than on packages. Normally a 3-4 star hotel suffices. Less stars = more holidays! We like to research do our own thing wherever possible, we dislike being hearded around on group tours, unless in China say, or Rome perhaps, where being on a tour often saves hours of queuing up. Tips: Treat Hotel Reception staff, and likewise restaurant waiters, as friends rather than servants. When cruising: Do extensive research before booking, into the size of the ship, and look at ALL the Ports of call, along the way. If challenged by 'movement difficulties' it's important to take note of any 'tendering' ports as getting ashore or returning to the ship, can be hazardous if the weather changes.
