Manhattan is only 13 miles long, but it may as well be its own planet – and with countless of-the-moment restaurants, where does a hungry visitor begin? These bloggers came through with their own expert tips on how to eat your way through the Big Apple, our travelers’ favorite US destination of 2017.

Brunch

Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant

The chicken and waffles is fantastic. It’s the ideal jumping-off point if you want to explore the Lower East Side and Soho.”

Extra Virgin

I have eaten at this Greenwich Village restaurant while celebrities have also been having brunch, and no one makes a big deal, since it’s local and laid back. Get banana French toast or eggs benedict!”

Jacob’s Pickles

Fun place on the Upper West Side. They are famous for ‘beer, biscuits and pickles,’ but the brunch is our favorite. Get a biscuit sandwich or biscuit French toast. Gorgeous interior.”

Lunch & Dinner

The Little Owl

“A charming restaurant that serves seasonal dishes. Popular amongst the locals in SoHo.”

Despaña Fine Foods & Tapas Café

The store is part cafe and part market, with a dining section in the back that serves all types of tapas.  The shop specializes in Spanish food, ingredients and imports, and has a wine shop, Vinas y Mas, right next door.”

Eataly NYC Flatiron

There’s no better place to spend an afternoon than ogling and eating your way through beautiful food at Eataly, in the city’s Flatiron district. Enjoy perfect al dente pasta at La Pizza & La Pasta, cured meats and cheeses with wine at La Piazza, and the outstanding razor clams prepared with lemon, parsley, olive oil and a hint of chili pepper at Il Pesce.”

Dessert

Rice to Riches

“Every kind of rice pudding you can imagine with the best toppings… so unique and so amazing! One of my faves.”

Momofuku Milk Bar

“Stop into one of Milk Bar’s locations so you can try their famous Crack Pie. Their cereal milk ice cream is also a treat!”

Levain Bakery

“Okay… I dream about these cookies all the time. So does everyone else who has ever tasted them! They are giant, and the best ever. This is a little basement bakery, but they have perfected the cookie. Be prepared for the line, and get one of each!”

Drinks and Nightlife

Jimmy at The James New York
“The ultimate rooftop bar. This fashionable hotel in SoHo attracts all the trendy young New Yorkers, especially at sunset when the rooftop is buzzing with music and cocktails.”

Rudy’s Bar and Grill

Every time we’re in NYC we head to Rudy’s Bar & Grill, our favorite place to grab a drink. Rudy’s is a dive bar in Hell’s Kitchen, just a few blocks from Times Square, and you’re guaranteed to have a great time. There aren’t many places in NYC where you can get a pint of beer for $3 and a free hot dog. That’s right – a free Hebrew National beef hot dogs with every drink.”

21 Club

For a swanky old-school night on the town, head over to 21 Club on 52nd Street. This elegant bar and restaurant, housed in a former speakeasy, has been a New York City icon since opening its doors January 1, 1930.”
