Best of the best 2024
The Alfagar Aparthotel has an unbeatable location overlooking the sea. Together with the Alfagar Village, the resort is set in a beautiful 11 ha property of gardens and cliff formations (a protected area of natural beauty), with spectacular views along the coastline. Situated in the center of the Algarve, in Balaia area just between the villages...

We visited the Alfagar hotel staying in the aparthotels, prestige area on the ground floor in early April 24.
The rooms were superb. Loads of space, spotless and in good condition. We were debating about going for a sea view but chose a garden view and couldn’t really be happier.
We went half board and for our kids (ages 9 and 11) this was a good choice given it’s a buffet style breakfast and dinner and as kids can be fussy it worked for us. If going as a couple we’d only pick breakfast as the dinner was a little basic for us but overall we were more than happy.
One other thing about the dinner was the fact you had to pay for your drinks but at breakfast they were free. I found this a little strange given the money we paid for half board so that would be something that would hesitate in me giving it 5 out of 5.
The pools and pool area at the prestige area where we frequented were brilliant and there were choices of indoor pools if you didn’t fancy the outdoor pool. The complex is huge and we didn’t use a fraction of it as we were only there for 4 nights but for me this place is a hidden gem and we ll definitely be returning.
Ubers to the old town are really good value (5/6 Euro)

Just returned from a lovely break at Alfagar, Aparthotel with my 8 year old daughter.
If cleanliness is important to you then stay here! Everywhere was spotless. The room was clean with everything you needed. Bar and restaurant staff would clean & wipe surfaces down as soon as anything touched them. Food was lovely, lots of variety and everything was fresh & hot.
If your children being happy is important then stay here. My daughter was in the waterpark every morning which did get boring for me but she was happy and that’s the main thing. It did mean some costly days however, as you’re left to buy food & drinks on site. It’s a lot cheaper outside the hotel. We downloaded the Bolt app for all trips, including to & from the airport. It’s so cheap!
This isn’t the place for you if you like to get drunk and leave your kids to it. With it being self-catering or half board, this meant a lovely environment where everyones behaviour was civilized. Entertainment finished by 11pm every night meaning you could get a good sleep.
If we were to return to Portugal, it would be purely to stay here again. Thank you

Two single girls booked 2-1 bedroom suites for 13 days from March 5, 2024 until March 18, 2024. We specifically asked for Prestige Sea View. We even emailed the a week prior at make sure we SEA VIEW. We both got pool view on the first floor. This is false advertising and so unfair. Another single traveller got a view of the garage bins. Very sexiest hotel. The hotel was really nice and clean. Some of the front desk staff can be rude. Very disappointed. See the photo…does that look like Sea View.

Just home from our 3rd stay ,we had a 2 bed garden veiw appt that was spotlessly clean and kept that way by the lovely housekeeping team who were always helpful and friendly ,the pools and grounds immaculate and all staff we came in contact with were wonderful ,i call the alfagar my little bit of heaven ,not much to do early march but having a coffee on the decking is a lovely way to spend a few hours when the sun is at its hottest, indoor pools were a welcome distraction on a couple of rainy days ,there is a rule one pool requires swimming hats but some get caught without yet others seem to not comply and remain in the pool .being disabled the route to the beach down the cliff steps was not doable and the walk down the rd to where you are directly on the beach has a rather steep rd to get down or back up so we took taxis to the old town beach ,would be lovely to have a beach shuttle for those less able ,when i 1st visited they used to run a shuttle into town a euro each way ,no longer running but im sure a beach shuttle would be a asset even if there was a charge ,guests should also be advised not to feed the gulls or throw food into the pools ,the gulls become very aggresive with other gulls trying to get the food.
