It mostly depends on which activities the couple wants to partake in and what their travel style is. However, there is a destination that we feel encompasses all travel styles, and that country is Grenada located in the southern Caribbean. This is where we’re temporarily living and this “Island of Spice” offers hiking and scuba diving for the adventurous, sun tanning and shopping for the relaxed, fortresses and museums for the history buffs, and festivals and bars for the partiers! On top of all of that, the sunsets each night create a very romantic setting that all couples will love!

We suggest adventuring through Botswana and Namibia together. The adrenaline you feel during the day while you are in search of the different wildlife, combined with the uninterrupted peace and stars above at night, make for the perfect trip! You learn a lot about someone after camping together, and since we didn’t have our cell phones or the Internet we didn’t have any distractions and were able to enjoy the moment together.

Roatán was one of the first destinations we traveled to when we left the UK in 2011, and we were fortunate to secure a rental home in the middle of the jungle, so we spent six months learning to scuba dive and drinking rum! The scuba diving on Roatán is some of the best you’ll find anywhere in the world with a mixture of cave dives, wall dives, shark dives and wreck dives – plus with great visibility year round you’ll have no problem exploring the second largest coral reef in the world. If you’re looking for a paradise island steeped in authentic pirate history, Roatán’s the place for you!

We’ve found that any destination is better when you have someone you love to share it with. For us, our favorite destination as a couple is Gili Meno Island, off of the coast of Bali in Indonesia, because it’s a tiny island paradise with not a care in the world. We love having time to swim, snorkel, and sit around and talk as the sun sets. There’s no better way to reconnect than to slow down and that’s what happens on Gili Meno.

We have been all over the world and are always happiest when traveling together. But if pressed, we’ll both say Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana. Most couples will head to Paris for romance, but there’s something about Ljubljana’s cozy size, vibrant center, stunning architecture, and warmth of the people that keeps calling us back.

Voluntourism can be great for couples looking to learn new things and grow closer than ever. We just completed an amazing experience in Tanzania, right in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, helping at a school and absorbing the culture and wildlife of the region. Ancient historic sites are another excellent choice for expanding our knowledge and horizons. The awe we felt visiting Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, Pompeii, and the Great Wall of China gave us conversation material for years. Pick places of interest to both partners, then go out and rekindle that spark.

In our journeys around the globe, our favorite destination for couple travel is Slovenia. Located where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet, Slovenia is a relatively undiscovered paradise. Our favorite spot is the alpine jewel: Lake Bled. Row your lover across the placid waters to an island with a storybook chapel. Slovenia has energizing year round outdoor activities, incredible history and wonderful Tyrolean and Mediterranean cuisine. We highly recommend Slovenia for any couple seeking adventure and romance!

The West Highland Way in Scotland is a nature-lover’s paradise. A couple can pretend they are Jamie and Claire from Outlander as they walk all or part of the 96-mile trail that extends from outside Glasgow to Fort William. The adventure can be done with a backpack and tent, as Scotland allows wild camping, or you can opt to stay at any of the cozy rental lodges you’ll pass along the way. The dramatic landscape and remote feel will inspire conversation and connection that is hard to have in the hustle and bustle of normal life. And the whisky is just a bonus!

We thought a lot about where to go for our honeymoon. We chose South Africa and Mauritius because, combined, they had all we were looking for – culture, adventure and beach time. The Winelands, Cape Town and safari in Kruger are all particularly special. Traveling as a couple always comes down to the company. If you love the person you’re with, you can’t really go wrong with any destination – it’s all an adventure!
– Victoria & Steve, Bridges And Balloons
There is no place more romantic to travel together with the person you love than Rome! It’s like being on one long date – eating good food, drinking good wine, strolling through beautiful streets hand in hand, watching the sunset over the Tiber River.

Some of the most memorable moments where we’ve bonded as a couple have been in nature, trekking across mountains. Why? Although we may not always look our best while trekking, these are the times when we’re often at our most transparent, when we’ve undertaken physical and emotional challenges, worked to support each other, and have emerged attaining a goal — together. Beyond that, there’s a pride and love for the other person and his or her ability to stretch and achieve that makes the experience and connection that much more beautiful. With this background, we would recommend the Annapurna Circuit trek in Nepal. The trek can be done either in full (15-18 days) or in a shorter segment (10 days) with Thorong La pass at 17, 769 feet as the highest point. The Himalayas provide an incredible backdrop for couples seeking to test their boundaries.

We’d recommend Lake Bled in Slovenia as a great place for couple travel. We’ve been lucky enough to visit twice, once on a short winter break swapping the rain at home for the frozen lake and snow-covered mountains, and again in the summer as part of our European road trip. So whether it’s building snowmen by the castle or swimming in the lake, Bled has plenty to keep any traveling couple busy for a few days. The scenery alone makes it a must visit in Europe.

Belize packs a lot into its small borders and maintains an exotic feel. The coast is lined with beautiful beaches and the world’s second largest reef system. A short drive to the interior can have you hiking through thick rainforest and Mayan Ruins. Belize is perfect for couples because of its blend of adventure, culture and relaxation. Besides being beautiful, Belize is easy. English is the national language and the currency fixed 2:1 to the US dollar. For us Belize will always be a special place: it’s where the travel bug bit and never let go.

South Africa is such a diverse country and perfect for couples traveling together as there is literally something for every kind of couple. From blood pumping activities like swimming with sharks all the way to sharing a mind-blowing bottle of wine whilst taking in the views at one of the spectacular vineyards. Foodies, wine buffs, adrenalin junkies, animal lovers, spa and relaxation enthusiasts, hikers, climbers, swimmers, sunbathers, paragliders; South Africa has it all.

Whether your ideal vacation includes rest and relaxation, or adrenaline filled adventure, you will find it all in the Bahamas. The weather is perfect all year round and the Bahamas is host to some of the most beautiful beaches the world has to offer. Picturesque scenery, delicious food, friendly people, and more activities than you will be able to fit in, Bahamas really does have it all.

We think Slovenia is the best-kept secret in Europe and the perfect destination for couples looking for romance and adventure. It’s a magical world of breathtaking alpine scenery, emerald rivers, fairy-tale lakes, picture-perfect towns, and delicious food and wine. It’s much more affordable and has fewer crowds than neighboring Austria and Italy.

Firstly, Hong Kong is a place of mixed cultures – Chinese, Macanese and the local culture of Hong Kong. Thus, your experience will be much richer and more fruitful when it comes to trying new dishes or adapting to new customs and traditions. Secondly, Hong Kong is a city that never sleeps. It offers a great variety of activities and attractions that lovers will find interesting, relaxing and, above all, romantic. Top highlight stops in Hong Kong for a couple would be Wong Tai Sin Temple, having a picnic at Kowloon Park, going for a romantic walk across Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade at night and exploring Temple Street Market when going for a romantic dinner.

It might sound a bit unconventional when thinking of a vacation that spells romance, but Iceland is a great destination for a couple traveling together. There are just some kind of adventures that make us want to fall in love and Iceland does that for us. It’s hard not to go starry-eyed at hiking with your honey to a secluded natural hot spring and taking a dip surrounded by the natural beauty. Tim even kept the romance going when we stayed in a camper in the Westfjords with a bottle of wine, fondue on our stove and snuggling as the Northern Lights danced overhead. With intimate rental homes, superb cuisine and plenty of adventures, Iceland is definitely a country to swoon over!

Peru is a haven for luxurious romantic holidays. We suggest spending a couple of languorous days amidst Peruvian vineyards in Ica. Spend your days exploring the mysterious Nazca Lines and evenings sampling local wines. Continue onto the Sacred Valley with its bustling local markets and Incan Ruins including Machu Picchu. Don’t forget to take a cooking class together in the Sacred Valley, either! Wrap up the trip with a decadent stay on the shores of Laka Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The dreamy panoramas in this corner of the world are bound to leave every couple starry-eyed.

We spent a week in an overwater bungalow in The Maldives and it was absolutely fantastic. It’s a “no shoes, no news” kind of place, where you can relax the day away on your private deck just above the turquoise sea or fill your time with island activities, such as a romantic lunch in the island’s garden, ultraviolet night snorkeling, or a spa treatment. On top of that, there’s a wonderful harmony on the island, making it feel more often than not like your own personal paradise.

You can easily spend a week exploring Istanbul; be sure to visit the Spice Market and Hagia Sophia. From there head to Cappadocia, one of our favorite spots in Turkey. Explore the caves, ride a hot air balloon or just check out the amazing scenery. Ephesus is also a must visit spot. And if that isn’t enough you can spend some time on the Mediterranean in Antalya or Bodrum. The people are incredibly nice, the food is amazing, and the scenery makes Turkey our favorite romantic spot for couples traveling together!

We love wine tastings, great Italian cuisine and stunning landscape – and of course Tuscany has all of that. If you rent a car it’s easy to get off the beaten track to explore small towns that are still relatively untouched by tourism, even during high season. And you’ll have no trouble finding fantastic Tuscan villas that are perfect for couples who want a bit of privacy. Adventurous couples won’t run out of cycling and hiking options, and city lovers can choose to base their stay in Florence or Siena. All in all, there’s something for everyone!

After traveling all over the world together there is one place that comes to our minds as the best couples travel destination…The Maldives! What couple wouldn’t enjoy spending their vacation on a white sand island with an ocean so blue it almost doesn’t look real? The Maldives was one of our favorite locations and we can’t wait to go back. All it takes is a Google image search and you will book a ticket right away!

To be honest, we go where the sales take us. We always have a lot of fun together wherever we travel to. We make our own memories and work together to solve problems. Like on the night train to Belgrade: nothing says love like sleeping together on an itchy wool bed! It may sound unromantic, but it was a memorable experience we still laugh about and talk about today. Go out and make goofy memories together!

We’ve been lucky enough to travel to more than 100 countries on all seven continents and I don’t think there is any place more romantic than the Greek Islands. Greece is great for romance, but it is also an amazing all around vacation destination. There’s beautiful scenery, rich history and incredible architecture. If you are looking for a beach getaway, a luxury escape, or even a touch of adventure (which we obviously love since our motto is ‘Adventure Is For Everyone!’), this is the place to go. We loved it so much we’re going back next month!
