Dewey Beach is the perfect place for a family vacation. This tiny town in Delaware is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Rehoboth Bay. You can literally walk from your vacation rental to anywhere in Dewey Beach you might want to go and there is definitely plenty to do there.

From your beach rental you can walk to John Waples Memorial Playground. In addition to the traditional play equipment, the park features a giant sand circle complete with trucks. Parents can watch in comfort from the gazebos or picnic tables. Be sure to reserve time on Monday nights to see a free movie on the beach and don’t miss Wednesday nights, complete with a bonfire and live music; it’s guaranteed to be memorable!

Water fun is just one highlight of vacationing in Dewey Beach. Walk from your condo rental to Monigle Park for a day of play in warmer water or take sailing lessons. In June and July you can watch the dolphins frolic just off the shore, but for those with a more adventurous spirit, there is parasailing and kayaking tours.

Walk from your beach rental to the shopping district or hop on the Jolly Trolley for an excursion to Rehoboth Beach, the home of Baywood Greens, an exclusive public course that's been called the “Augusta of the North.” You can splash with the kids at Jungle Jim's water park or watch the Ospreys and Bald Eagles at Sunset Park.

Renting a house or condo in Dewey Beach is an economical way to vacation. There is nothing worse than a cramped hotel room with the kids and you have the freedom to either cook or bar-b-q, or eat at any of the area’s restaurants. Most families create a little home-away- from-home and enjoy not having to quiet the kids constantly like you do in a hotel room. In fact, even couples find that they like the privacy of a small condo and larger vacation rentals can accommodate 2 or 3 couples and be even more economical, leaving more money for doing the “really fun” things.

If you get tired of Dewey Beach, which is pretty much impossible, Cape May is only 30 miles down the road and Brandywine Zoo and the historic Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard are right around the corner.
