We are spectacularly located in a prominent elevated position in a South facing valley which brings long hours of sunshine and a favourable micro climate.
The house is approached by a lane which winds its way from the main road, crossing over a river by an ancient bridge and then winding upwards through olive groves to reach the property. There are extensive private wooded grounds which drop away from the house giving a real sense of privacy and peace. The whole atmosphere is one of utter tranquillity – we are far from any major road and the only sounds are the splash of the water as it tumbles from rock to rock, the birds and the summer calling of the crickets.

There is nothing to spoil the view and to witness a 'La Massa' morning is truly magnificent – the light has a wonderful brilliance and luminescent quality which never fails to enthral.
The Guest Accommodation is situated in a wing of the house and has a private entrance and furnished sun terraces.
The whole has been completely refurbished, decorated and furnished to a high standard. The living area is comfortable with sofas and individual armchairs, a hardwood dining table and chairs and occasional furniture.
The kitchen area is finished and equipped to a high standard by an exclusive Italian designer and manufacturer. There is a wood-burning stove for the cooler evenings and the whole suite is centrally heated for winter use.
The bathrooms(s) feature large high quality shower cubicles with 'power shower heads', wash hand basins and WCs with bidet showers. The bedroom(s) have new beds, quality linen and plenty of storage space.
We have a 12 metre 'L' shaped and landscaped solar heated pool which has a good length for lap swimmers and a sliding cover for rainy or windy days .
We have an outdoor spa pool with wonderful views. We have a very well equipped gym and sauna located downstairs into what it used to be the cellar .

Nous avons profité de la villa et de sa piscine tous les jours. Un maison très grande, pleine de charme, propre, avec une bonne literie, de nombreuses terrasses et une vue imprenable. Il y a tous les équipements dont vous aurez besoin, on n’y manque de rien. Villa dans laquelle nous laissons de magnifiques souvenirs.
Daniele, Tania et Marco sont d’excellents hôtes, serviables, attentionnés, accueillants et dotés d’une extrême gentillesse. De vrais passionnés de leur culture. Ils nous ont fait profiter d’un cours de cuisine dont nous nous souviendront longtemps (atelier à faire absolument !!). Leurs conseils sont utiles et ils sauront vous indiquer les adresses incontournables à faire !
En bref, un vrai coin de paradis niché dans les montagnes de Toscane qui nous a permis de passer des moments précieux 🫶🏻
Nous espérons y revenir très vite !

It's the people that make it
We flew from London to La Massa having just got engaged in August 2020. 3 things:
1. Danny & Marco were more than the consummate hosts, they became friends. After our stay, they came to Siena to meet our pals and have dinner with us - lovely people & fantastic memories.
2. The house is spot on; I'm not just talking about what it has...jacuzzi, steam room, swimming pool, very comfortable ensuite bedrooms et al...so much as the way it makes you feel. Totally relaxed, beautiful sunrises, brilliant moon/star gazing in the evening,
3. The Casentino valley is a lesser known part of Tuscany but has so much going on. We visited la verna the franciscan santuary, drove through the consuma pass, visited Poppi, and did a day trip to Florence. We barely scratched the surface.
Practical advice - you need a car, you're a 5 minute drive from a square for coffee/supplies, & the best restaurants are in bibbiena.
Thanks for the memories Danny & Marco!

What a brilliant place!
If you're looking for the perfect place to spend your holiday - with family or friends - well, then this is it!! The loveliest hosts you'll ever meet, amazing location and a dream house!
Nothing negative to say! Oh wait, yes I do... The dinner Daniele and Marco cooked for us was too tasty.... We'll be back!

Two weeks in paradise
We spent two wonderful weeks in this spacious property. The reception was very warm - we have already received a lot of groceries as gifts and so we were able to indulge ourselves immediately without going shopping before. The house and grounds offer so many places to sit and relax. The fantastic pool offered a wonderful cool down and was also suitable for playing. The inside of the house is also very tasteful and personally furnished and decorated (beautiful pictures!). We spent most of the time outdoors. The heat was even in August wonderfully bearable due to the elevated location over 500 m but the evenings were still very warm. Besides a day in Florence, we went on excursions to Poppi with its wonderfully situated castle, to Stia with a very interesting textile / wool museum in an old factory. The town itself was lovely too (especially the market square and the Sta.Maria Assunta church)
Walks around the monastery of La Verna and Camadaldoli were wonderful experiences. A drive and hike on the Pratomagno is highly recommended.
Daniele rents e-mountain bikes.
What a great experiance. With them it is easy to explore the wonderfully hilly area without a car.
A telescope is available for star observation during the night.
We particularly appreciated the great attention and friendliness of Daniele and Marco. The dinner, to which we were invited was fantastic. We were very spoiled and very personable. Our son Samuel successfully spent a lot of time in the fitness room - where can you find something like this in a holiday home?
Even in times of Corona, this holiday home can be described as ideal. We felt almost carefree.
Thank you Daniele for your hospitality! Hopefully we'll meet again.

"Ein Oase der Ruhe in mitten traumhafter Landschaft"
Ein traumhaftes Anwesen, wer Ruhe und Entspannung sucht wird sie hier finden. Ein geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Haus mit schönen Sitzbereichen innen sowie außen. Ein wunderbarer Gastgeber der mit seinem Aufmerksamkeiten einen spüren lässt dass man "Angekommen und Willkommen" ist. DeiMori LaMassa ist für uns eine absolute Empfehlung. Wir freuen uns bereits auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

Just perfect
A superb holiday in the quiet hills of the Casentino Valley. The house is very beautiful and extremely well equipped. The bedrooms with en suite shower rooms were very comfortable. You couldn’t have wished for more. Dani and Marco are the perfect hosts. They provided us with everything we needed which was so welcome after an 8 hour drive. Pippo and Peppa, two beautiful black cats, greeted us and they really are the friendliest cats I have ever come across. Dani gave us so much information on where to visit, eat and the history of the area which just made our daily outings all the more interesting. Poppi, the local town was so pretty and the castle well worth a visit. Bibbiena a few miles further on had all the necessary shops, which made life so easy! We then came back to lounge by the pool and watch the sunset over the mountain tops. Just perfect...

Fa piacere quando una nuova famiglia scopre il Casentino e le sue bellezze venendo a soggiornare da noi al DeiMori LaMassa. Vi abbiamo visto apprezzare ogni angolo e giocare con Pippo e Peppa, i nostri gattini neri. Avete visitatto i dintorni e venendo dall'Adriatico siete stati i primi ospiti a usare il valico dei Mandrioli invece di quello de La Consuma e anche i primi ospiti Italiani tramite Tripadvisor. Spero che la serenita' che avete provato durante la vostra vacanza accompagni il bel futuro di tutta la famiglia. Fermatevi per un caffe' se passerete di nuovo per il Casentino.

A fantastic villa in a beautiful location.
A week of relaxation and fun. The villa is extremely well-equipped and comfortable - perfect for a relaxing holiday and as a base to explore the local area.
Highlights of the week included a cooking lesson from Beppina (Danny’s lovey mum) and Danny cooking us an exquisite traditional Tuscan meal on our final evening. Days out included Florence, Poppi and Arezzo -all easily reached, giving us time to return to the villa for a swim in the pool before dinner, eaten on the terrace overlooking the verdant mountain scenery in complete peace and tranquillity.
Both Danny & Peter are excellent hosts, taking the time to ensure we made the most of our stay at the villa. It takes skilled hosts to achieve the fine balance between being on hand to ensure a perfect holiday for guests and not being intrusive, all at La Massa managed this perfectly.
I recommend La Massa for anyone looking for great family holiday in high quality accommodation in a beautiful part of Italy with perfects hosts. We arrived as clients but left feeling like good friends.

What to say ? Your words and the feelings you express are the main reason of my work and profession : nothing pays more than a review like this, thank you from the deep of my heart. Tuscan people, and even more Valley people like me, from Casentino valley, we can be very hard and direct, we do say what we think and express what we feel, sometimes with embarrassment from both side, but when we get a smile, a thankful gesture, an appreciative look, then we give back thousands . You did it for us : you have been fantastic, appreciative, curious guests and those are qualities that make my host-nature, nurturing and pleasing nature, feeling so valued to do "thousands".

Lovely Tuscan villa with perfect host
Very nice, big house located in pure nature sorroundings. Comfrotable and well equipped with a great swimming pool. It is placed in Casentino valley, quiet part of Tuscany. The owner, Danny, was exceptionally helpful and hospitable. Dinner prepared by him and Marco was truly amazing! Exceptional Italian dishes based on XV century recepies accompanied by great wine and amazing stories... Unforgettable experience!

I can see that you did get the spirit of our valley : you really got the right words for describing this first Valley of Arno River and its beauty.
It was a big joy to welcome your smily family, so well travelled and ready to experience Tuscany, its many different landscapes, its great food and its excellent wine. I was so impressed by your knowledge of wines, and being you almost a sommelier was a pleasure to taste great Tuscan wines ( although we both liked very much Ripasso that should tell the readers , is a wine from Northern Italy ). Every Ripasso I will have, will make me think of you and your family. Ciao dal Casentino.

Great week
Had a really great week staying at DeiMori LaMassa villa.
The pool was fabulous, our 10 & 12 year old boys had so much fun, was large enough for me to get a few lengths in too...
The villa is so well contained, loved the fact each room had it's own bathroom, great showers and the kitchen is well equipped.
Danny was very welcoming and we really appreciated the essentials he provided for us, including the drinks on arrival which was much needed after the 2hr drive!
Danny was so accommodating providing advice on local places to visit.
Pepper the cat was an added bonus for us cat lovers!
The verander at the villa was a fab place to sit in a morning enjoying the sound of birds & admiring the scenery, luved every minute.
The local village at Poppi is lovely to visit & the shopping area in Bibbiena had everything we needed.
Would definitely recommend booking for a relaxing time in the beautiful hills of Tuscany.

There are many activities available in the immediate area and these include the following: Hill walking and rambling. Horse riding. Cycling along the peaceful roads and tracks. Bird Watching. Golf at a local course with daily membership available at reasonable rates. Guests report that the course is excellent and that the views are magnificent. Clubs are available for hire and there is also a golf driving range.

Places to visit are many and varied and include:
The local Tuscan Hill Towns and Villages – one of the most beautiful being Poppi about 10 Minutes drive away. Arezzo, the provincial capital with its elegant squares, winding streets and wide range of shops. Siena can be reached as a day visit. Cortona, the beautiful town made famous by the book and film ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’ – about an hour by car. The Sanctuary of St. Francis at La Verna – a fascinating place to visit with the site being spectacularly located.
