Mont Rouge is a working fruit farm, set in the tranquil country side of Tulbagh, at the foot of the Winterhoek Mountains. We offer affordable and spacious fully equipped self- catering riverside cottages with breathtaking mountain views.
Our cottages are practically designed and tastefully decorated to add to the enjoyment of your stay.
Bedding, towels and morning tea, coffee, sugar, milk are standard features in both cottages. Breakfast baskets, braai packs and wood are not standard features and can be arranged before arrival .

This is one of those hidden gems in Cape Town that gives you a total wow from the minute you arrive all the way through your stay. Everything in our cottage was just the way we expected (and better). There was cold water and freshly picked blueberries in the fridge, 2 mini bran loaves and coffee pods on arrival.
The little stream running alongside our cottage brought us and the dogs much needed relief from the heat not to mention the spectacular view of the mountains which calms the soul reminding one of who REALLY owns this planet.
We love love love this place and can't wait to be back. If only it could be monthly...

Good for the soul!
3 ladies in need of a break from COVID and city life..... Mont Rouge was the perfect location to reset and rest! With breathtaking views of the majestic mountains and sun setting behind them to the sound of a small stream passing the patio ending the day in front of a cosy fireplace! The cottages are well equipped and clean. We enjoyed every minute and can highly recommend these cottages!

Take us back!
My husband and I had such an incredible stay at Mont Rouge this past weekend! We were so impressed with how clean the unit was, tastefully decorated, everything one needs in the unit was available! The view was breathtakingly beautiful and the farm is so well kept and peaceful! Thank you to Marisha and staff for a wonderful experience, we will most definitely be back!

A piece of paradise
Our family enjoyed a magical week away at Mont Rouge. The cottage was beautiful and spacious, easily accommodating our family of 6. We loved all the homely touches, even freshly baked bread, a bowl of fresh fruit from the farm and a little Spekboom for us to take home and plant.
The farm, itself, is a little piece of paradise with beautiful orchards set against a backdrop of magnificient mountains. Our kids had the most wonderful time exploring the farm on their bikes, enjoying dips in the refreshing mountain pool, looking for frogs in the stream and playing boardgames at the lovely big table on the verandah.
And our dog had simply the best weekend ever. Marisha very graciously accommodated him for the weekend, and he quickly made friends with the farm dogs and had the most awesome weekend-long doggy playdate.
The farm is also very conveniently located close to several delightful little towns and we spent a lovely morning exploring Wolseley and enjoying fruit-picking on some of the local farms.
All in all, we had the most wonderfyl weekend, and we simply can't wait to come back!

Beautiful cottage to unwind!
We had such a awesome weekend on the farm. Everything you will need is available from nice bedding to a fully stocked kitchen. The extra treats left for us made us feel even more at home and the farm gave us space to unwind and chill.

Ambiance to remember!
Mont Rouge farm is a piece of heaven.... Our stay in Mont Rouge cottage nr. 2 was great.... we were welcomed with freshly baked bread and homemade fig jam and with the warm hospitality from the owners your stay will be a blessed and unforgettable one!!!

Peaceful, Relaxing Weekend Away
We stayed in Cottage 1 at Mont Rouge for a birthday celebration weekend with our family. The cottage was well equipped, neat and clean and more than enough space for the family. The decor in the cottage was also very pretty.
The beautiful view of the mountains from the stoep along with the sound of the stream flowing made for a peaceful and relaxing setting and if you sat still enough, there were Mousebirds and Cape Robins to spot flying from tree to tree.
We swam in the pool allocated to our Cottage, which had a beautiful view of the mountains and was very refreshing on the hot days.
Some of our guests took an early morning run through the vineyards while others took a walk through the farm to the wedding venue section, where they found a different setting of beautiful lush gardens with huge trees, plants and beautiful roses.
The owners were accommodating and helpful all the way through.
Definitely an enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful weekend away, enjoyed by the whole family. We will definitely visit again!

Short weekend break away
We had a lovely stay at Mont Rouge in Tulbagh. The host is super friendly and helpful. She made us feel extra special, even baked a little home made bread for us with home made fig jam. The cottage is well equipped with all the necessities for a self catering weekend away.
We took our dogs with, which was extra special for us! They are our children and its always a huge bonus if we can share the beautiful outdoor scenery with them. I would highly recommend Mont Rouge if your looking for a relaxing, break away from the hustle and busyness of life.

Wonderful little gem!!!
We booked out all the cottages at Mont Rouge for our daughters wedding weekend. The cottages are very comfortable and well equipped. The setting is just gorgeous, with a bubbling little stream just in front of the cottages and the most magnificent view of the Tulbagh mountains. Marisha, the friendly and warm lady who runs the cottages, was wonderfully accommodating to us...changing check in and check out times to suit our special weekend. Each cottage had a beautiful little 'home style' touch from home baked bread to home made jam etc. Such a lovely, easy and peaceful atmoshphere. We had the most wonderful time and would definitely recommend it!

Directions to Mont Rouge Tulbagh
From Cape Town via Wellington
1. Take the N1, northbound, from Cape Town towards Paarl.
2. Exit N1 at the (R44) Wellington 'Agter Paarl/Klapmuts' off ramp.
3. Continue on R44 towards Wellington. When you reach the four way stop, continue straight.
4. After +/- 5km's turn left at a set of traffic lights into Distillery Road - this is a continuation of R44.
5. Continue on R44 towards Hermon, Ceres and Porterville.
6. 9. 5 km after passing through Nuwe Kloof Pass, turn left. Sign post will indicate ‘Tulbagh’.
7. Continue until reaching a T-junction.
8. Turn left into the main road - Van der Stel Street.
9. Drive through town until you reach a 4 way stop. Continue straight (Tulbagh NG Church on your right) on the Winterhoek Road.
10. When you reach a fork, continue left past Tulbagh Wynkelder/ Winery.
11. When you reach a sign, Sterkstoom Road (Small Island) turn right and continue on this road until you see the Mont Rouge sign
From Cape Town via Malmesbury
1. Take the N7, northbound, from Cape Town towards Malmesbury.
2. Exit N7 at the Malmesbury off ramp to your left.
3. Turn left at first junction, heading into the town.
4. Pass the large silos on your right, at traffic lights. Continue straight.
5. At the next stop junction, turn right.
6. This takes you out of Malmesbury and you will pass the Swartland Cellars on your right.
7. Turn left at the R46 towards Hermon/Riebeeck Kasteel.
8. Continue, passing Riebeeck-Kasteel.
9. At the junction turn left. You are now on the R44.
10. 9. 5 km after passing through Nuwe Kloof Pass, turn left. Sign post will indicate ‘Tulbagh’.
11. Continue until reaching a T-junction.
12. Turn left into the main road - Van der Stel Street.
13. Drive through town until you reach a 4 way stop. Continue straight (Tulbagh NG Church on your right) on the Winterhoek Road.
