Lindsey cannot do enough for her guests
We booked Keepers for my 70th birthday and glad we chose this little gem of a cottage. The place was spotless and covid 19 clean. Everything is in place that one needs for a holiday right down to the lemon drizzle cake and eggs on arrival....thank you Lindsey, we had a nice smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast! Lindsey and Colin couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant and a happy experience. The sitting area has plenty of space with table, chairs, parasol and a BBQ and the chickens are very curious to see who has arrived....sorry about Jasper, our barking dog! The two miniature Shetlands are a delight to watch and very friendly. My birthday was great and even made greater when Lindsey came out with a home baked birthday cake and candles. There are lots of lovely walks in the area but one needs to have a certain level of fitness to get over the stone styles and the area is beautiful with excellent views from the cottage. Visit Magpie Mine a fairly easy walk but oh! those styles! Bakewell was rather busy, so we didn't stop unfortunately...a pleasure to get back to our little cottage. Weather was warm with a nice breeze and there is a wood stove if you go there in the winter. Thank you both for a lovely holiday!! I would have shared photos but TripAdvisor have not given me the chance to download them

Perfect retreat
Cosy, beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable with great attention to detail. Everything you could possibly need for a short or longer break - including a welcome hamper, dressing gowns, DVDs.... Stunning location. Totally private and quiet. Perfect for touring around the Peaks. Lovely walks from the cottage. We will be back soon, I hope. Can't recommend highly enough.

Cozy bolt hole
We arrived to snow on the ground, but as soon as we opened the door we were welcomed with a glowing Woodburner and a piece of lemon drizzle cake with our first cuppa! Which set the theme for our weeks stay, relaxing mornings in.. out in the afternoon and down the Cock and Pullit for dinner!A great time and hope to return Rob and Lisa.

Will we return, we most certainly will....
Our four night stay in Keepers Cottage was fantastic, a really well appointed small cottage, ideal for a couple, with everything provided you could possibly need. It is a very cosy, warm building, heated by electric wall heaters and backed up by a log burner, lovely to sit in front of after coming in on a cold evening, and so easy to light, with an abundance of logs just across from the cottage. The provision of eggs, milk and a lemon drizzle cake was a lovely touch, to add to everything else about this great cottage. We enjoyed seeing the two Shetland ponies just over the fence with the free-range chickens, who provide top quality eggs!! The view from the patio is stunning and we enjoyed the autumn sun and the really fantastic colours of the trees, a great time of the year to visit. Sheldon is a nice village and has a great local pub, (Cock & Pullet) a free house, serving a good range of beers and lagers and some very tasty meals. We can recommend this as a good place to eat and the pub has a good lively buzz about it, with very welcoming staff. A good area to visit, and if you are keen to leave the car at home, there are plenty of local walks, with plenty of information available in the cottage. Thank you Lindsey and Colin for allowing us the use of Keepers Cottage and we plan to return and stay in Townsend Cottage, which from what we have been told is just as good as Keepers Cottage.

Small but perfectly formed.
Ideally situated for us & our dog for walks from the door. Very well equipped, clean, homely & private cottage in a quiet location. Lovely welcoming treats, eggs, milk, & amazing cake! The village pub (The Cock & Pullet) served good value classic pub food. We really enjoyed our stay & would have no hesitation returning to Keeper's Cottage.

Our 20th visit!
We have just returned from our 20th stay at Keepers Cottage, and I can honestly say that I would not wish to stay anywhere else It really is the perfect place to stay, and you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. Wonderfully equipped, with everything you need, with Lindsey's much appreciated extras of eggs, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, and the much anticipated delicious home made cake. Being only 3 miles from Bakewell, and within easy reach of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, the Monsal Trail and the other delights of the Peak District, this really is the perfect place to stay, in a delightful Peakland village with s fantastic pub, The Cock and Pullet. Here's to the next 20 visits!!

About the neighborhood
The beautiful village of Sheldon lies near the heart of the Peak District, three miles from the bustling market town of Bakewell, five miles from Buxton, famous for its spa and waters, and less than 15 miles from Sheffield. The local towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock Bath, each famous in its own right, offer culture, shopping, restaurants and traditional markets. There are excellent walks from the door, especially down Deep Dale to reach the River Wye or down Lathkill Dale and Cressbrook Dales down to Monsal Dale and Monsal Head. In the summer, Ashford in the Water and many other local villages create unique well dressings from flower petals.
