La Cueva is a unique eco-house in Dominican Republic a three minutes walk from a magnificent beach.
The house is constructed around a rock formation and there is unique cave integrated in the house as a bathroom.
The house is spacious and has a zen athmosphere, has 2 terraces & is situated in a lucious green and safe residential area, just a few steps away from different beaches and the centre of town.
La Cueva is a nature house. We designed this little pearl to have a direct contact with nature and the surrounding tropical environment. This means we used a lot of 'earthly' materials (concrete, stones, wood, rocks). We build the house around a rock formation, where a big cave ('a little cathedral') is restaurated, integrated in the house and is used as a totally unique bathroom.

Heaven on earth
La cueva is the place to be to enjoy all the beautiful things The DominicanRepublic had to offer. We loved the beautifull beaches, the friendly atmosphere in the town and the relaxing evenings in the wonderfull house. A must-do for anyone looking for heaven on earth!

magical, wonderfull, amazing..dreamlike place to stay !!
Best, most beautifull, even magical house I ve ever stayed in ( off all my travels over the world) ..it is build against a rock so you live with this beautifull coral stone in your livingroom..quite impressive !
One of the showers is built into a huge sandstone cave..what an incredible experience !! This place in itself is really 'zen' and gave me the stressless, relaxing experience I deserve during holidays..!
The house is situated on a very quiet natural location and is great and safe for children (try the extra bedroom build on the rock with teens, they ll just love it). In four minutes walking you reach one of the amazing white sand beaches..and you ' re only a five minutes away from the busy villagecenter.Great experience, I'll be back !!!

A small piece of Paradise
We have staying here may be for 3 - 4 times.It is a lovely , beautifull place to relax und to enjoy your vocation. The servise is great, the nature around it is
fantastic and it is top lokated, In 5-10 min you cann reach everything you need
wonderfull beaches, interesting places,small calmados, french bakery and so on. It is peacefull,quiet and very comfortable. We enjoyed each stay so much.

Magic!!! The perfect spot for a James Bond movie!
I've been three times to the house: in april 2007, april 2008 and in march 2012.
In the beginning the house was not even finished. The terrace didn't even had a thatched roof... and everything was at that time so basic.. but,.. it was a magical experience. It's a natural house, built to a rock - with a cave (the bathroom !) in side. I never saw this in my life. A unique designed house, you can see James Bond coming out of the Cave into the living room any moment ;-) .
In the mean time, Las Galeras has changed a bit, but it has still all of his charm.
The house changed too. The terrace on the ground level is superb: very spacious, and you open all the doors, and you see how the inner livin room and the outer terrace are becoming one.
You stay in a lovely and cosy green residential part of the village, at a perfect location. You are surrounded by astonishing tropical nature, you hear thousands of crickets and see a breathtaking sky with so many stars at night (there is a rooftop terrace on the rock !!!).
The area is secure and its in very short walking distance to the center of the village and to Las Galeras beach as well to Playita! Playita is my favourite.
The house is very spacious but also very basic: there is a big but basic kitchen and a fridge. There is no television, no wifi, no swimming pool ...(but now you can have easily wifi with a stick!)
the house is a warm combination of concrete and wood. There are two toilets, the big La Cueva bathroom, and an outside shower.
this is a house to unwind from busy city life!!
a must go if you like the combination of a simple but sublime nature house in one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Gewoonweg fantastisch!
La Cueva is een ruim, tropisch, open, mooi, gezellig, sfeervol, positief en praktisch huis. Echt een aanrader om met je partner, vrienden of gezin te verblijven middenin de natuur en op wandelafstand van prachtige idyllische witte palmboomstranden. Het is heel origineel ingericht en je hebt er elk ook je eigen privacy. Zo zijn er 2 douches in aparte ruimtes ( 1 buiten!) een zalige rainshower en verschillende toiletten en mooie propere slaapkamers met goede bedden. Er is een eenvoudig ingerichte praktische keuken met alles erop en eraan. Je kan vis kopen aan de deur! Verse vis uit de zee waar men mee rond komt. Brood en Franse toespijzen van een ingeburgerde Francoise die daar haar (ook vaak zelfgemaakte) producten aanprijst voor wie ze kan waarderen. Je kan er buiten loungen in de zalige ligzetels en onder het met palmbladeren gemaakte open veranda. Van daaruit kan je de mooie begroeiing en planten bewonderen alsmede hun prachtige bewoners zoals kolibries, duizendpoten, kikkers in alle kleuren, krekels, spinnen etc. Dit is nog maar een korte beschrijving van hoe het er uitziet en is maar je moet het 'beleven'.. De tropische warmte, de zee, de geuren!! en al het groen met het 'pluk de dag'- gevoel. Zàlig! Er is ook genoeg te beleven. Een begeleide trip door de brousse op een paard is ook een unieke beleving ..

Op en top Caraïbisch genieten!
De tocht naar Las Galeras is tevens een tocht weg van de massa, een tocht naar de roots van Caraïbisch genieten. Want om ten volle te genieten van de natuurpracht, het luieren en het eiland wil ik vooral de resorts en de bijhorende toeristen drukte vermijden. Laat dit nu net het opzet zijn waar de Eco-Lodge de sleutel wil toe zijn. Hier plons je ongestoord, beleef je de natuur, proef je de gastvrijheid.
Net zoals de locatie is ook de logde vooral "puur". Het verblijf is letterlijk verankerd en gebouwd op een rots. Met als persoonlijk architecturaal hoogtepunt de (grot)badkamer met regendouche! De woning, mooi verweven in de omgeving, heeft alles voor een verblijf vol zen EN avontuur. Met een bootje naar een nabijgelegen (snorkel)baai, een trektocht te paard langs de vele soorten mangobomen, wandelen langs eindeloze witte stranden.. Alle troeven van de Caraïben op één locatie waar de natuur nog heerst. Een schiereiland op een eiland, de paringsplek voor menig walvis, waar de ruilhandel met mango's en papaja's nog de gewoonte is.
Het verblijf in de logde was onbeschrijfelijk. Architecturaal en conceptueel zéér sterk en voor mij persoonlijk gelegen op de perfecte spot!!

Stylish Eco Lodge experience near magnificent beaches
The house is very big and it's a true experience to stay there! The house is build around a cave and the bathroom is truly spectacular (it made me think of the luxurious cave hotel in Matera in Southern Italy). The bedrooms have mosquito nets and you hear the soothing sounds of nature when you are lying in bed. The kitchen is fully equipped, so you have everything if you want to eat in or prepare a mail. The terrace outside is covered with the traditional roof which made it perfect to sit on the terrace when it is rather hot outside or to protect you from the occasional rain shower. At the end of the street there is a fantastic wine bar and lots of restaurants. A few minutes walking takes you to magnificent beaches and we even saw whales!!

brilliant, overwhelmed, dreamlike, timeless beauty, in love with this paradise
'sometimes there is so much beauty i can hardly take it in..'
This was my overall experience in and around la Cueva.
Every detail in the house is beautifull, fits in this boutique style eco friendly spacious vacation house..
I just couldn 't stop enjoying the magical rainshower in the cave ! What an execptional, wonderfull experience..
Then having an expresso on the terrace while watching hundreds of tropical butterflies, spotting a fluogreen lizard on a huge leave, seeing colibri s entering the many colorfull flowers around,picking my own bananas and papayas in the garden !, listening to the comforting sound of crickets in the evening...and if the see is a bit rough you can here the waves while falling a sleep..couldn t stop being in awe..
Spacious kitchen,nice dressing, cossy bedroom, comfortable bed..a couple of minutes to the pristine beacb of Playita..great welcoming host..could stay here forever..I 'll be back !!!

About the neighborhood
Set in a the middle of a horseshoe-shaped cove at the eastern part of the Samaná peninsula, Las Galeras is the last village. The road litterally stops at the ocean. Between two superb capes, Cabo Cabron in the west and Cabo Samana at the eastern side, Las Galeras is relaxing at a sweeping curve of pure white sand, upon which an almost unbelievable turquoise sea laps gently. Between these two capes you find fantastic nature (nature reserves, mountains, El Limón waterfall) ánd seven beaches, so one for every day. Las Galeras is an old fishermen's village stretched along the main road. This small village has managed to maintain its peaceful and timeless ambiance.
