The Roost is an intimate, self contained property for two centrally situated in the picturesque village of Amberley in the heart of the South Downs National Park. A new conversion of an old farm building at Stream Barn, dating back to the 17th century, it provides comfortable and stylish accommodation in an enviable position with stunning views.
Next door is the village tea rooms and also the village shop where you can buy locally sourced products and which caters for everyday needs. Several local pubs within walking distance serve good food and Amberley Castle Hotel is here for that special occasion or treat.

We've already stayed here twice!
The Roost is a beautiful cosy barn conversion, well appointed, with the advantage of a pretty, well-tended back garden and a stunning view over the rolling South Downs. Hosts Geoff and Sandie (who live in the house next door) give you a warm welcome and are on hand for anything you need.
It couldn't be better situated to explore the lovely village of Amberley and the surrounding countryside and villages.
We were so taken with the tranquillity and charm of it all it that we came back for a second stay a month later! Highly recommended.

Lovely place to stay
Very comfortable little place to stay in a beautiful village. Sandie and Geoff were very friendly and helpful. The patio at the back of the cottage was a lovely place to sit on warm evenings, when we weren't admiring Amberley's thatched houses or in one of the local pubs. Lots of places to visit in the area and the South Downs are on the doorstep. If we lived closer we would definitely visit again.

A rare find!
We spent 4 blissful days at this idyllic setting. The Roost is an intimate and beautiful place with a lovely garden. We spent a lot of time in our lovely terrace enjoying the sunshine and the flowers. The pub next door was excellent and the walks fantastic.
Our hosts were perfect, very welcoming, kind and accommodating.
I cannot recommend this place enough! We are definitely coming back!

An idyllic retreat in the Sussex Downs
Ann, my wife, and I have just spent a splendid week staying at The Roost in the charming village of Amberley in West Sussex. The accommodation is perfect for a couple: comfortable & cosy and with all the amenities you're likely to require. The owners, Sandie & Geoff, live next door and are very friendly & helpful without being intrusive in any way. There is an excellent pub, The Black Horse, about 200 metres up the road whose food is gastropub standard but not pretentious e.g a home made steak and ale pie was superb. Altogether, we had a great week and we thoroughly recommend The Roost to any couple looking for a stress-free comfortable break.

A lovely few days in Amberley
We stayed at the roost for a week and it was lovely. Sandie and Geoff greeted us with a warm welcome, the roost is stunning and in a fantastic location if you enjoy walking, the South Downs way is easy to find and wonderful to explore. Arundel is not far away and has some lovely spots for breakfast and cakes! We enjoyed dinner out at the black horse in Amberley, the George at burpham and also the Italian in Arundel!
We hope to return!

Thank you both very much for your positive review.
It was good to have you visit us here in Amberley and although the weather over your stay was a tad variable it didn't prevent you from enjoying the lovely Sussex countryside .......we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.
