Le Poulailler is a sunny, luxurious and comfortable, holiday house located at the foot of the Cantal, one of the impressive volcanic massifs in the Auvergne. The house, the shady summer kitchen, the large yard and the surrounding area offer all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday. Le Poulailler, situated in the Alagnon River valley, offers a nice view of the valley and surrounding mountains. It is just 10 minutes from the A-75 Paris-Montpellier motorway. Inside This modern house, created from a 19th Century farm building, retains many of its original structural features. We have chosen the name Le Poulailler which can be translated as the chicken coop because of the original breeding spots of the ladies. Their nesting box with slate partitions are now incorporated into the present living room wall. On the ground floor, in a beautiful stone vault, is the living room with an open kitchen. There is a comfortable sofa, two armchairs, a television with DVD player, and a dining table with chairs (high chair available). The kitchen is modern and equipped with all the amenities: refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, stove top, large oven, microwave, good pans!, coffee maker, percolator, hand blender, mixer, generous supply of dishes, glassware, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Also on the ground floor is a spacious bathroom with a tub, walk-in shower, double sinks and a toilet. Upstairs is a second toilet and a sink, as well as three bedrooms; one with a double bed (160 x 200 cm), one with two single beds (80 x 200 cm) which you can slide against each other to form a double bed and one with a single bed (90 x 200 cm). All have spacious wardrobes. An extra cot is available. There is heating in the house. The house is well-insulated, making it comfy even in winter. There is free Wi-Fi. Outside Attached to the house is a spacious summer kitchen that offers a wonderful outdoor living space outside shaded from the hot sun. This area includes a large work surface, sink with running water, stove top, oven, refrigerator, coffee machine, pans, crockery and cutlery. There is a dining table with chairs. Additionally, there are herbs in the garden, a washing machine, a drying rack and clotheslines, a BBQ, garden furniture, inflatable paddling pools and a sandbox. Bicycles, etc. can be placed in a lockable room. We also have a few bikes for rent (two touring bikes, a mountain bike and a road bike). The nearby Alagnon River offers swimming from many small beaches. In Blesle it is lovely to dip your toes in the stream which runs through the town. Because we have our own water purification using the treated water to irrigate the garden, please use the biodegradable products for cleaning, laundry and the dishwasher which you find available in the house. Setting The house is situated with four other houses on a dead end road and is 5 minutes from Blesle, a historic Medieval town on the list of the 100 most beautiful villages of France. Other nearby towns/cities that are worth a visit: Brioude, Issoire, Léotoing, Lavaudieu, Auzon. And a bit further away are Salers, Puy-en-Velay, Clermont-Ferrand, Montpeyroux, La Chaise Dieu, Billom. Large-scale tourism is unknown in the area, creating many opportunities for peaceful sight-seeing. In the house you will find tourist office brochures, hiking guides, and copies of local maps with indicated routes. More

About the neighborhood
Blesle lies at the foot of the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, that is nominated to be listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the largest natural park in France and is located in the Massif Central. It is an old volcanic, mountainous area with peaks up to almost 1900m high. It consists of four large volcanic massifs: Monts Dômes (Chaîne des Puys), Monts Dore, Cézalier and the Mont du Cantal where Blesle is located. The tops of the Cantal offer breathtaking views of the Massif Central and sometimes extending even to the Alps and the Pyrenees! In France, the Auvergne forms the ‘château d'eau de la France.’ It is a source of several major rivers such as the Dordogne and the Loire. The landscape is dotted with lakes, waterfalls and deep gorges. The beautiful green valley...
