Interaction with guests
Maggie and Ian live in the farmhouse opposite, and are usually on hand to help out with any glitches or just share their local knowledge. There are maps to borrow, badminton sets, books for little ones etc to borrow from the farmhouse. But if you want a quiet time of it, don't worry, you won't be disturbed.

About the neighborhood
Winkleigh, in the middle of Devon was crowned best place to bring up children in England in 2011! It’s peaceful, beautiful, and there’s virtually no crime. Each season has a local festival in central Devon. In mid winter you’ll find Wassailing in orchards; in spring the North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival explores inland trails as well as coastal hikes; in July Winkleigh itself holds its ancient fair week and in autumn there is the renown display at the Sticklepath Fireshow, and nearby Hatherleigh holds its November festival, complete with flaming tar barrels.
How to get there
Most people reach us by car - we are 2 miles from the lovely village of Winkleigh and we will send you detailed directions on request. We are only 2 hours drive from Bristol and 45 mins from Exeter. Alternatively, we can collect you from (and return you to) either bus or train - ask when you book. There is no charge for this transfer for car free guests. Our nearest train station is Eggesford, on the picturesque Tarka Line (4 miles). The 5B Stagecoach bus from Exeter to Barnstaple stops about a mile away. Budget airline FlyBe go to Exeter airport, and you can rent cars there too.
