Fantastic cottage in a great location!
We have just returned from a week at Beech Cottage and can't recommend it highly enough. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and had everything we could need. The endless supply of logs meant we could have a fire every night and we enjoyed our visits from the hosts cats Jet and Marble. Set right in the centre of the village you are just a minutes walk from the village pubs, shops and the fish and chip van on Friday. It is is also located very close to beautiful walks and cycle rides. Phone signal in the village isn't great, but the cottage WiFi is excellent and allowed for Netflix streaming, WhatsApp calls, etc. Thank you Fred and Lesley - we had a wonderful stay!

Beautiful Cottage in Fantastic Village
Hartington is a perfect English village in the Peaks. It is very convenient for all the Peak District and has two very good pubs and local shops. Beech Cottage is set right in the middle of the village. It is very well equiped. The heating is good and it has ample hot water. Highly recommended

Beech cottage
Beech cottage is a lovely cottage in the beautiful village of Hartington. It is very well appointed and fitted out to a very high standard. Everything was comfortable and lots of basics were supplied. Obviously a lot of thought and effort have gone into its preparation. Whilst I am sure they were born out of experience, we did find the myriad of notices telling us what to do and what not to do a little offputting. We enjoyed our stay very much even though the weather was not the best.

Thank you Susanna for your kind review, and I am pleased you found the cottage well appointed, a high standard and comfortable. I am sorry you found the 4 notices explaining heating controls, fire lighting, car parking, and safety concerns a little offputting. I can assure you they are only in place to make the guests stay easier and to prevent accidents. Thank you again for taking time to write a review. Lesley

Beautiful cottage, welcoming hosts
We have just had a most enjoyable family holiday. The cottage is beautifully clean with superior quality appliances to make self catering easy. I have stayed in many cottages in the UK and this is the best equipped by far. The owners Lesley and Fred are welcoming without being intrusive and the village location is spot on. The beds are really comfortable and the underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom are very welcome on cold mornings. Grandson George was particularly impressed by the chip van on Friday night in the village square!

Fab Christmas!
We booked this lovely Cottage for our Christmas holiday. We thought it was perfect for our needs, the open fire was warming. The kitchen was well thought through with utensils and crockery etc. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable and the views and walks were amazing. We had our Christmas dinner in the Charles Cotton which is a 3 minute walk away as well as eating in the Devonshire arms. All locals are amazingly friendly as is the owner, who was attentive and helpful at all times. I would highly recommended this lovely cottage to families for any break. We had an amazing Christmas, thank you Lesley!

Wonderful
This is a great place to stay. Very much home from home, Fred and Lesley are welcoming and on hand if needed. The cottage is comfortable, warm and has everything you need including WiFi, freeview and off-road parking (which is tight to get into!) The only downside is the bathroom is on the ground floor, and the stairs are steep so those with mobility issues and/or bladder issues may struggle. Defiantly recommend this cottage

Thank you for your kind review, and I am pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and found the cottage comfortable, warm and fully equipped. I fully understand your comments on the bathroom, however we do state that it is downstairs, and in the past we have found some guests prefer this as they don't have to go up the stairs during the day to pay a visit. Thank you again, Lesley

Lovely cottage
Hartington is a great base to explore the Peak District. Lovely walks on the doorstep or a short drive away. The Devonshire Arms and Charles cotton are good places to eat and drink. There are a couple of shops for supplies, not forgetting the cheese shop. Beech cottage was warm, cosy and lovely and clean. The facilities were excellent. The tea, coffee, milk and water were a nice touch. Hope to visit again. Thank you Lesley and Fred

Great house in a beautiful village with helpful owners next door.
The village is charming and centrally located for exploring Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and the southern part of the Peak District. The locals are friendly and welcoming (I enjoyed an evening playing badminton in the church hall next door after a chance encounter with one of the locals in the street outside). The owners seem to have thought of everything including tea and biscuits on arrival! It was clean and well kept and and provided everything we needed for our week long stay. I would definitely have no hesitation in booking there again.

Spacious place. Very well equipped
We stayed a week with 2 children. The house is in the centre of the village, so close to shops, pubs and restaurants. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. A few very nice walks start nearby, so ideally situated.
