A Great Escape
We really enjoyed our stay in No. 13. It's a lovely quiet, peaceful idyll that just lets your batteries recharge. From the lovely pool to the various-level sun decks we had a super time.

Excellent, Good Value, Terrific
Have just returned from a three week stay at this villa (our third visit in three years). I would highly recommend this villa if you want peace and quiet and dont mind driving 10/15mins to shops and restaurants.
The pool and surrounding patio are ideal for sunbathing, the villa is very clean and tidy and suitably equipped.
The owner is very easy to deal with and answers all your questions and or queries that you may have.

OK for 2 - better for a family
Villa was pretty basic and not terribly clean - so not quite sure what the extra 70 euros was for! - seems excessive.(Be aware that the owner will expect you to pay paypal fees for the return of your deposit.) Very comfy bed in main bedroom but pity anyone having to sleep in the other rooms. Free internet? Couldn't make it work on my phone - but quite probably my own ineptitude. Sky TV? Very annoying as no remote control: I am disabled and it's a long walk from sofa to telly! Luxury property? Not really. The lounge is a big, airy room with excellent air conditioning, but it is dark. The main bedroom also has aircon, other rooms have large fans. The kitchen was dirty with old food left in cupboards. We had to wash everything before we used it as crockery/cutlery etc had been put away dirty. As there are specific instructions at the property that should you choose to put things away without washing them first you will be fined from your deposit, it seems odd that these things are not checked at the end of each occupancy. We didn't sit outside in the evening, as the mozzies took over at about 7pm, but all the rooms have fly screens at the windows so indoors remains beastie free. There is plenty of space at the property to use a wheelchair but there are steps up to the front door and down from the pool terrace. The pool area is lovely with plenty of beds and cushions around. The pool itself was far too cold for us but would be great for kids to play in. All in all the villa had everything that we needed and was comfortable. You definitely need a car here and should definitely explore Cartagena - park under the submarine. Los Alcazares is very quiet with few amenities and a lovely, long beach with disabled access points. We thought this was just what we wanted, but after a week we found it all a bit too quiet after all!

Lovely peaceful location
Lovely villa in countryside location which mostly lived up to expectations. Clean and well presented, with a beautiful garden and pool (although water very cold at this time of year - but that's not surprising). Well equipped kitchen, and the two large fridges would come in very handy in the summer I'm sure. There was no DVD player which was a bit of a disappointment to my two teenagers who brought loads of DVDs to watch. A car is essential due to the location of the villa, but 5 minute drive takes you into town.

Bring torches with you !
What can I say?
We arrived and were so impressed that it looked just like the photos, but even better.
We went straight to the supermarket, so we could relax for the first few days. On returning, we had no electricity.
To cut a long story short, we had on average 10 power cuts a day. After a visit from an electrician we ascertained there was insufficient power to run the villa, so soon worked out a system of which lights to put on, whether to have a shower before or after we turned on the hob and managed to reduce the power cuts to about 5 a day. Luckily we did not even attempt to turn on the air con!
This did not make for a relaxing " at home" holiday with my mum who is in her 80s.
We had no WiFi for the first week (2 unaccompanied visits from IT repair men who said the contract had been cancelled the previous autumn) finally got it working.
The bed linen was not aired and somewhat damp and we were offered no change despite a 12 day break, the same with the meagre towel offering.
Despite all this, we did have a good holiday.
On returning, we wrote to the owner, who had provided such an excellent service during the booking process, expecting her to apologise, as we assumed, she was unaware of the problems. we also requested a partial refund.
Not so.
She explained to us that we had been on holiday in Spain, which was not the same as the U.K. and the problems with the electricity and WiFi were to be expected.
As frequent visitors to Spain, who have never experienced such problems, we refrained from responding to these insulting comments.
This is a great villa and once there is sufficient electric power, ( you now have the WiFi !) will result in a relaxing holiday in Spain.
Sadly very disappointing, for us.

Brilliant holiday
We stayed for 17 wonderful days at Barb's villa for the second time in a year - and it was much improved since our last stay. Cleaner, better equipped (a new dishwasher and DVD player were installed just before we arrived), new sub loungers - just lovely and so peaceful. Power supply is still a problem at the villa but you soon get used to it, and it certainly did not spoil our enjoyment. Lovely pool which was well used by our two teenagers. Only downsides are that you do need a car, which means when going out, someone has to stay sober to drive, and, of course, the FLIES, which are a real nuisance - plenty of fly swats needed. Towels were plentiful and of good quality, the kitchen well equipped with everything needed, and we changed the beds ourselves (sheets dry in under an hour in the summer). We'll certainly be back.

Best holiday ever!
5 of us ladies went here to celebrate some of our 50th Birthdays, villa was fantasic, fully kitted out with everything you could possibly need and more, It is a bit out of the way of everything so as we didn't hire a car we had to get Taxi's be aware if there is more than 4 of you, you will have to order 2 taxi's no 5/6 seaters, taxi's were roughly 12 euros, however a friend of the owner was willing also to take us into town for 10 euros, villa is beautiful, pool was very clean, one thing I would point out to the owner is the twin room I shared with my friend, the beds were very uncomfortable, also get used to the power cuts, however they only last a second, then power is back on! Being so far out you cannot just nip to the shop for everyday supplies, so it was great a bread man came every morning around 8am! The weather was fantastic we had one day of rain! My friend booked the villa and she said the owner was very easy to deal with, nothing was too much trouble, 2 of the doors in the dining area would not lock, we reported this and within a few hours 2 men showed up to fix it! The town is small but has all the shops you would need, the locals are very friendly and assisted us with directions! Transport to and from the villa provided at a small cost, the man who picked us up even drove around to find us a shop which sold alcohol on our first night as this was a Sunday it wasn't easy but he did find us a lil restaurant which sold us wine by the bottle! All in all we had the time of our lives and lived in luxury for a week!

Excellent Stay
We have been to this house at least 3 times and the improvements made since our last visit made a pleasant difference.
The house was spotlessly clean, well equipped and provided all we wanted. Internet worked flawlessly as did the power.
We like the area so we were quite at home.
The lady who met us at the house was pleasant and, although we did not take her up on the offer, said we could phone her if we needed anything.
No flies this year, possibly due to a change in local agricultural practice.
If you want to know how much I recommend this house, I've just booked for next year.

We are so pleased you found everything to your liking. As always we want to hear all comments. Glad the new electrical is functioning well and the wi if and the addition of the screens on the windows to keep flies out. We look forward to seeing you again next year or possibly a quick get away yet this year.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
It was described as a luxury villa. What a joke. There was an electrical socket hanging out the wall in the living room, the 2nd bathroom shower head is propped up with a sponge. Not my idea of luxury. We had to pay 100 Euro for cleaning, but it wasn't that clean when we arrived, there was thick dust under the beds and black bits all over the floor of the 2nd bedroom. We also had to pay a further 30 euro for washing, I guess this was sheets/towels but think this should some under the cleaning. Although I have rented private villas before and never been charged separately for this.
Coming and going from the villa is like locking up fort knox. The alarm, although not activated when we were inside the villa went off twice for no reason.
Advertised as amenities within 1Km. WHAT AMENITIES? We luckily had a car as the villa is in the middle of nowhere and we clocked the nearest restaurant was 2.3Km from the villa. A few times were were unable to use the pool or sit outside because of the smell of manure from the farms. It was far from quiet, what we cars racing up and down and articulated lorries coming and going to the farms, air planes directly overhead to Murcia airport and fighter jets.
The single small umbrella provided for shade was not in it's proper stand and one day it blew out of the stand and hit my sister on the head when she was in the pool. As this was clearly not safe to use we moved an umbrella from another sunbathing area, however several days after we moved it the internal pully to open it snapped while the umbrella was up. The owners have deducted the cost of a new umbrella from our security deposit as they are blaming us for moving it without permission, even though we were not told we couldn't move anything. The umbrella was far from new and could have snapped at any time.
We read other reviews where people complained about having money deducted from their security deposit so this seems to be another way for the owners to make more money. Do yourself a favour and find a better place to stay.

There are three reviews from the same group. Unfortunately they had to be charged for damage and this is there way to get back at us. We certainly would not rent to them again and would suggest other owner's watch out for them. You will see from the many other reviews our home is great and our prices are good as well. I think in this case it is a case of the renters not happy to pay for damage they caused.

Not my idea of luxury
We have recently returned from a two week stay in this villa , and all I can say is that it was at best , average . There were lose electric sockets in the living room , botched plumbing In the second bathroom and a security regime more akin to Alcatraz than Los Alcazares.
The pool , albeit small was pleasant enough although did have a tendency to go rather green .
The proximity of the villa to a working farm was not mentioned in the description , nor the fact that tractors and articulated lorries trundled up and down the lane right alongside the villa .
Add the aroma of manure to the cacophony of noise , and you are about as far away from tranquil as you can get .
The write up on the property said that a car was advisable , but I'd say it was more like essential. They claimed that the nearest amenities were 1km away , but the nearest restaurant was almost 2.5km away and the nearest shops double that distance !
Overall I was rather disappointed with the property and would definitely not recommend a stay here .

About the neighborhood
Los Alcazares is situated in the Murcia region of South-Eastern Spain, also knows as the Costa Calida. The town sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor, a saltwater lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22km long strip of land called La Manga. At Los Alcazares you will find a host of shops, bars and restaurants. The beautiful blue flag beaches at Los Narejos are only 500 meters away and there are lots of other beaches of the Mar Menor locally to visit. The property is within 5-10 minutes driving distance of an 18 hole golf course at Roda. There are currently 9 golf courses within a 20 minute drive including Villa Martin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Finca and the championship courses at La Manga. The town of Los Alcazares was afforded municipal autonomy on the 13th of October 1983 and in celebration of this the town puts on a week long outdoor party featuring live music, shows and spectacular fireworks displays. The last 3 days of March sees Los Alcazares take on a medieval flavour with a large medieval market and numerous events in recollection of the time of peach following the creation of effective defences against invasions of Barbary pirates during the 15th century. Throughout the last 2 weeks of August the European countries gather to display their folklore, handicrafts and prepare gastronomic feasts from local produce.
