Kirkgate Cottage is a pretty and quirky traditional Fisherman's cottage that has been lovingly restored to create a stunning, modern home. The cottage has a real contemporary feel with an exposed stone wall in the living room housing a wood burning stove and two snuggler chairs to curl up on and relax. Small well behaved dogs welcome - maximum 2.

Great wee cottage
Lovely cosy cottage, very well equipped. Had our breakfast in wee garden both mornings and sun shone on us. Comfy bed and love the big bath in the bedroom. Thank you

Beautiful East Neuk Cottage
The cottage is idyllic if your looking for a romantic break, but did feel the many instructions a bit stifling. That said, it is a beautifully furnished, comfortable cottage, maintained to a very high standard. Having travelled some distance to enjoy the East Neuk of Fife, I was rather late arriving and discovered to my dismay, there was no welcome pack. The cottage is designed in an upside down layout which should be taken into account if you have any mobility problems. There are approximately 10 stairs to gain entry into the cottage, that provides access to the kitchen and living areas, there is a further flight of stairs inside that leads to the bedroom and bathroom. From the bedroom there is access to a lovely little patio/courtyard where it is very pleasant to sit, both first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening...... watching life go by. A short walk away is Pittenweem harbour and like its neighbouring villages, is quaint and very picturesque. Immediately across from the cottage is one of the ancient churches advertised in the area, which makes the location of this charming cottage even more attractive. St Andrews is less than 20 minutes away and there is a supermarket located in nearby Anstruther as well as the 2023 award winning chip shop located on the harbour. The area groans with the history it is steeped in and to write more would take from the anticipation of a visit to this lovely area.

Romantic Break
We’re just home from a fabulous weekend at this wonderful cottage. Kirkgate has absolutely everything you need for a luxurious break. Big comfy bed, quality bedding and the relaxing roll top bath in bedroom. The lounge and kitchen have everything you need and more. The area is great for walks and exploring the East Neuk of Fife. This was our 4th or 5th visit. We absolutely love it. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend

Small but perfectly formed
This was our second stay in Kirkgate Cottage and what a pleasure it was. The cottage is immaculately clean on arrival and filled with lots of personal touches. The bed is large and comfortable, the bathroom is luxurious, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need and the lounge is perfect for cosy nights in. We managed to park directly outside the property which is conveniently located just off the high street. We have had a wonderful week with hot sunny weather and visited all of the stunning East Neuk of Fife fishing villages nearby. We recommend this cottage to anyone, without hesitation it’s 5 stars from us.

Simply Amazing!
Just home from the most amazing stay at Kirkgate Cottage! This place is a hidden gem in Pittenweem but in the perfect location just round the corner from the best chippy in Scotland!! The decor and furnishings in the cottage are lovely and modern however keeping some of the original features. Love the upstairs living area with the cosy bedroom and lovely bathroom downstairs! The central heating in the cottage is easy to use and keeps it nice and cosy and there is also a log burner in the living room! No cold feet in the modern fitted bathroom due to the underfloor heating and great to be able to listen to the radio whilst having a shower with the built in Radio/speakers in the ceiling! The shower is fantastic! The bedroom is lovely and cosy with a very comfortable matress on the bed. The kitchen is great with plenty of stuff for cooking so no need to take anything with you, just food and wine!!! Fridge and dishwasher both available. The living room is very comfortable and cosy especially with the log burner on. TV, Freeview, BT Vision and excellent WIFI there too! The cottage is dog friendly and our wee dog loved it there! The owner has gone to lots of effort to make sure the cottage is all covid prepared so there is no worries whatsoever that this hasn’t been taken into account. Thank you for an amazing weekend and we cant wait to return.

Lovely ! cosy ! well presented cottage!
The cottage is fairly central in Pittenweem and only a 5 minute walk from the harbour! Ideally situated on the Fife Coastal Walk, presentation of the cottage was immaculate definitely 5 star quality cosy and comfortable, wonderfully unusual was the large bath in the bedroom, settling down to watching the television with a small glass of vino after a days walking along to Anstruther. You will not be disappointed with the quirky little cottage which we spent a three day break in, under the present national circumstances, cosy on arrival and well stocked with a lovely surprise welcoming tray! many thanks Cathy !

Hidden Gem
The only problem with writing this review is the character count. If you want somewhere that is exactly what it says on the tin, then this is it. If you want impeccably high standards then this is the cottage to book. If you want a sneak peek of how ALL cottages will need to be this SMART in the future, then this cottage fits the bill. The idyllic charms of Pittenweem and its locality are well known and fully documented elsewhere, but if you want to stay somewhere where the owner has gone the extra mile through attention to detail, then look no further. Words come easily when describing this cottage, but as you know actions mean more. We have already rebooked, We can offer not greater endorsement than that!

Short break
Had such a lovely time at this beautiful little cottage, so tastefully decorated. We had a day of rain but spent a lovely afternoon playing some of the games available and loved our cosy day in. We’ll definitely be back. Pittenweem is a lovely wee village and accessible to lots of other towns along the Fife coast....also very friendly folk.

About the neighborhood
Pittenweem is a lovely village with a working harbour that sits at the heart of the Fife coastal path. A great base for golfing, walking, cycling and exploring the natural beauty of the area Pittenweem and the surrounding area has something for everyone. The Fife Coastal Path is on the doorstep and is a great way to explore the villages while enjoying the seascapes and wildlife along the way. Each of the East Neuk villages has restaurants, bars and cafes for a stop off for a stop off along the way. Elie has a great beach, a great pub - The Ship Inn and a superb farm shop - Ardross. A trip to Anstruther wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the famous fish and chip shop and Crail Harbour is definitely worth a look and a photograph.
Getting around
There are plenty of busses to take you to the nearby villages along the East Neuk and also to the wonderful St Andrews. The Fife Coastal Path (117 miles) also runs the length of the East Neuk and is stunning if you’re feeling energetic. Lots of pit stops along the way and you can always get the bus back.
