New for 2018. Sunny Nook is situated (as the name says!) in the sunniest corner of a courtyard in the East Neuk fishing village of Pittenweem. It is ideally situated less than a minute's walk to the shore and just over a minute to the High Street - which has the village shop and Post Office, several cafes, art galleries, and the fish and chip shop. As the property is situated on a pedestrian wynd (path) there is no parking at the door. It is a very short walk to the nearest parking - which is free. Built in the 18th century, Sunny Nook has been updated to 21st century standards with a modern kitchen and shower room, central heating, ample power points and WiFi broadband, without losing any of its charm. Built in the 18th century, Sunny Nook has been updated to 21st century standards with a modern kitchen and shower room, central heating, ample power points and WiFi broadband, without losing any of its charm. It has been totally refurbished in spring 2018 with a fresh, clean look. It is simply furnished, but has everything you need for a restful holiday. As you enter the building there is a vestibule to hang coats and leave shoes and bags. A glazed door leads into the main living area which has both south and east facing windows which flood the room with light. The dining table sits by the south facing window, overlooking the garden. Over by the east facing window there is a comfy armchair. Facing this is the large corner sofa - just right for putting your feet up and relaxing. There are a 40' TV (Freeview), DVD player and bluetooth rechargeable speaker. You will also find books, maps, charging cables, DVD's (including The Winter Guest - shot mostly in Pittenweem) and tourist information. The kitchen area sits to one side of the living room. There is an oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle and toaster. Also the usual collection of crockery and glassware, utensils and cutlery etc. Dishwashing liquid, foil, bin liners, dishwashing cloths and tea towels are provided. Off the living room is the bedroom. This cosy room has a double bed, small wardrobe with drawer, 2 bedside tables and a full-length mirror. A hairdryer is provided. There are feature plantation shutters on the window. All bed-linen is provided. Also off the living room is the rear hallway where you will find all the useful, boring stuff like an iron, ironing board and the recycling bins. There is also a large picnic basket, small insulated bag (ice packs in the freezer) and a Thermos flask and mugs in a carry case for days out. Access to the shower room is gained from here via a narrow doorway with a bifold door. The shower room has a double-headed shower, toilet and sink with vanity unit. Hooks are provided for towels/clothing and you will also find a step-stool to sit on and for use around the property. Towels, mats and toilet rolls are provided. There is also a non-slip mat for use in the shower. Hot water is provided by a modern combi boiler. Outside there is a shared courtyard garden with lawn, flower borders and a large paved area. In the outhouse you will find the washer/dryer and the garden table and chairs. I provide a small welcome basket of bread, milk, coffee, tea etc. You will be asked for your preferences for this nearer the time of your visit. If you're coming for a special occasion and want any extras (champagne, flowers etc) just let me know and I'll see what I can do. There will be an extra charge for this service.More

I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Sunny Nook in Pittenweem. The accommodation was beautifully presented with everything you could hope for in a high quality holiday let. Just a few minutes walk from the lovely harbour with its ice cream shop, traditional pub and fish...More

About the neighborhood
Pittenweem is the central village of 5 East Neuk villages - Anstruther and Crail to the east, and St Monans and Elie to the west. The home of golf, St Andrews, is 10 miles away, Dundee 15, and Edinburgh is easily reached by car or train in just over an hour. Pittenweem is the sole surviving working fishing port in Fife. There is a fish market at the harbour Monday-Friday every week (if you're up very early!). The local catch is mainly crabs, prawns, lobsters and langoustines. There are miles of great walking on your doorstep. The Fife Coastal path passes through Pittenweem and the newly opened Pilgrim's Way is close by.
Getting around
Buses pass through the village only once an hour so a car (although not absolutely essential) is the best way to get around the area.
