Very Disappointing
My group of 10 in total booked the entire boat. Firstly, we booked the trip back in Apr 2018 and nitrox was spoilt since then and they never fixed it. Secondly, the dive guide team very poorly managed the entire trip. I wasted a lot of time trying to get them organized and our local friend had to do their job for them instead. Thirdly, the small wooden boat does not withstand strong waves and big winds and because of that we could not go to Misool which was the highlight of the trip. We wanted to dive with dolphins. The fiber glass boats could make the crossing even in bad weather. Good price for the trip but not worth it. I rather pay more for a proper trip. Now I do not know when I will ever have the time to go back to Raja Ampat and am very disappointed on how the trip turned out. Plus point they managed to take us to a pearl farm which is nice and interesting but it does not make up for the dive experience which was what we flew in for.

Excellent Island Hopping Adventure!
Kurabesi Explorer was the live-aboard for our Spice Island Culinary Advenure with Janet DeNeefe (of Casa Luna fame in Ubud, Bali), a nine day adventure into the spices, the history, the culture, the cooking and the beauty of the Banda Island in east Indonesia. The vessel was comfortable and the best way to see this extraordinary place. We indulged in daily cooking classes and extraorindary meals - devised by Janet and her chef. Land excursions, market visits and snorkling adventures at some of the islands many coral reefs were well organised and rounded out the trip really well. All activites were well paced and enjoyable and there was the right amount of down time for relaxing. Our accommodation was comfortable - we had the Papua cabin with its own bathroom, lots of storage and a double bed. It was serviced regularly with change of sheets and towels. There were plenty of places on board to relax and enjoy the passing views. The little library was well stocked with interesting books to browse including references on the coral reefs and fish, the history of the Banda Islands and of course Janet's wonderfully comprehensive cook book! The crew were attentive, nothing was too much trouble. A team of 12 looked after just 11 passengers! Always smiling, they assisted us with every need. Our snorkeling guides took us to incredible locations and organised all sorts of extras when asked including a hike up Gunung Api one early morning. Our guides Silvia and Ian moved us from activity to activity expertly and were a great source of knowledge. A highlight was the final night when we moored off Molana Island - a tiny uninhabited place with a wonderful white sand beach. The crew brought tables, chairs, lights and everything we needed for a beach bbq - they cooked wonderful fish and chicken served up with an array of salads and sambals - a treat on a balmy moonlight night which wont be forgotten in a hurry. Amazing sunsets, smooth seas and great company rounded out this very special adventure on the Kurabesi Explorer - highly recommended.

Superb!
We spent 6 days on board of Kurabesi and wish it was longer! The trip was planned to go from Ambon to Saumlaki, but due to bad weather, we stopped in Banda and returned to Saumlaki because the Captain was afraid the journey to Saumlaki would be too rough on us. However, there was no dissapointments as Ian, the cruise director, planned six dives for us to chase hammerheads in Tanjung Hatta, Karang Buton and Suanggi, in which four of these gave us spectacular sightings of hammerheads. I was caught in downcurrent twice, but with Fahmi watching my group, I was able to escape the currents even with my air getting under 40 bars when I surfaced. Tigor was not hesitant to make Fahmi accompanied me to surface before the others as I was running out of air, and the dinghy was only 5 minutes away, ready to pick us up. The surface intervals were filled with delicious, glorious food cooked by Chef Raden and his crews, and Malik the intern was always there to make sure our glasses were full and food was enough. The boatmen, especially Pak Dicky, were happy to ferry us having fun on shore or in the water. There was never any need unmet. The cabins, although small, were very comfortable and cleaned everyday. The three lounging areas were available to meet our needs, whether to watch film or listen to music, enjoying the sea breeze in the prow, having a chat around the dining table upstairs or soaking the sun on the top deck. What Kurabesi has is an excellent crew providing excellent service, making sure everybody is satisfied and has good memories. I'm looking forward to have other trips on board of Kurabesi

Cendrawasi Bay and Raja Ampat
My family has done two week long trips on the Kurbasi in 18 months. The first to Raja Ampat and the other in Cendrawasi Bay. We came back for seconds, that says it all. This is a great way to holiday. The boat is great and the crew somehow found some room for improvement between trips. The food is plentiful, tasty and healthy. It is safe for families. On both our trips there were 3 and 4 year olds on the boat. My kids are a bit older and simply just had the best time ever. A family member had a birthday on one of the trips. I asked for a cake and we got a full blown beach party complete with a band singing happy birthday. Likewise the New Year’s Eve 2017 is one we will never forget in Raja Ampat. The diving is always excellent and safe. They have all the kit you need. The environment in which you travel is out of this world. Papua is just the most beautiful place.

Fantastic boat, fantastic crew, fantastic diving!
I've just spent a week on board the Kurabesi Explorer and it is one I won't forget! My friends and I chose the Cenderawashi Bay 8d/7n trip, hoping to see the whale sharks, but we ended up seeing a whole lot more. The crew worked out the best route to avoid any bad weather, so the original itinerary changed because of this. The crew, however, always managed to ensure we were getting the best out of our trip. The diving was great (some really amazing dive sites), the equipment was well organised, in great working order and was really well looked after and was ready every time we needed it. The dives were explained in full detail with an expert drawing and some of our inexperienced friends were very well looked after. We ended up seeing the whale sharks, which was fantastic! The food was plentiful, delicious and absolutely gorgeous - breakfast, lunch and dinner were complete highlights every day. The staff were brilliant and they really looked after us from the first minute we got on board till the last. They even made us a wonderful BBQ on a beach with fires, great food and even brought out lights as the sun set. They also made one a birthday cake for one of of our party. You can see they have worked together for a long time and get on really well. If there was one criticism it would be that it can be pretty noisy at times from the engine, generator and tank compressors, but if that doesn't bother too much then this live aboard is a must. Totally recommended!
