A unique opportunity to stay in a stunning location at the edge of the Nantes-Brest canal with panoramic views of the medieval Chateau. “Les pieds dans l’eau” (literal meaning “feet in the water”!) is a holiday home in the picturesque chateau town of Josselin, a French “petite cite de caractere”. An ideal base for walking, cycling or kayaking, the house is a few minutes stroll from the town centre. Josselin is a lively mix of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. The magnificent chateau, still inhabited by the Rohan family, has guided tours in both French and English. Every Saturday is market day in Josselin. Local fresh produce including, cheese, vegetables, shellfish and cold meats are on sale. A 10 minute walk through the town takes you to the beautiful Le Bois d'Amour. There are two bedrooms. A double room and one with three single beds. There is also a “clic-clac” bed in the living area to provide more sleeping space if required. There is a shower room and separate toilet. In the utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer. Bikes are provided and also a kayak. There is a large lake and lots of woodland. Dogs are welcome! There is a small café in the park but opening times can be limited! In the chateau there are often art exhibitions. The walled city of Vannes is about a 50 minute drive from Josselin. The harbourside restaurants in Vannes are always busy in the summer months. The local seafood, oysters and mussels being particularly popular. There are many pretty Breton towns all with their own charms. Nearby is the charming town of La Gacilly. During the summer months an outdoor photographic exhibition is held. Boat trips on the canal are available. The Yves Rocher factory, shop and Spa are situated here. Also a vegetarian restaurant - very unusual in France! Rochefort-en-Terre, about 45 minutes away, was voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, plentiful restaurants and shops, it is a must on your holiday agenda! 'Musée de la Résistance de Bretagne' The fascinating 'Musée de la Resistance is at St Marcel. It chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War. Close to St Marcel is the delightful market and canalside town of Malestroit. The zoo at Pont Scorff is ideal for younger members of the family (about 1 hour away) The Prehistoric Park at Malansac, about 45 minutes away, is another great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris. There are numerous outdoor cafés and restaurants in the picturesque square plus shops so perfect if you want some retail therapy! More
