Set on the edge of the village of Christow, high above the river at the head of the Teign Valley, the Engine House is a secluded detached property perfect for walkers, fisherman, families or sight seeing. The open plan lounge/kitchen /diner is cosy and welcoming with French doors opening onto the level lawned garden, from where you can hear the river tumbling over the rocks below. The bedrooms are bright and cheerful and from the hallway a door opens onto a walled patio area that is a delightful suntrap and still retains many of the properties original features. This is a property which has a lot to offer anyone seeking peace and quiet with beautiful walks along the abundant footpaths.

Warm,comfortable and totally peaceful this quirky little place is unique in having a history that has left it as the sole representative of a once thriving business. As a long abandoned quarry it has returned to nature with owls and peregrine falcons nesting. We booked for 9 nights in late Aug to early Sept 2016. Booking with Lisa was straightforward and easy and directions provided were perfect. George phoned beforehand to offer any help he could, and came by to welcome us early in our stay. He provided great tips on the local area, beaches and pubs. We can recommend the "Nobody Inn" and the "Artichoke" is closer to the property. The walk up to the lake is...

Great place to get away form it all. Ideal to base for visiting the Devon Coast and Dartmoor which meant there was plenty for the whole family.
