The beautiful lakeshore 5-10 minutes walk from Bowderbeck.
The wood burning stove for evenings by the fire, we supply logs.
Plenty of comfortable seating in the living room
The fully equipped, modern kitchen has two ovens, hob, microwave and dishwasher

Everyone's favourite window at Bowderbeck, the porthole came from an eighteenth century ship!
The bathroom has a bath, sink and loo. There's a separate shower and another separate loo

Bowderbeck is ideal for walkers, cyclists, artists, photographers and families who love the countryside, it sleeps up to 6 people all year round, and 8 people in the summer months (May - September). Recently refurbished it is tastefully decorated and full of character with original features including exposed beams and stone floors, and a newly installed wood burning stove. It has a large garden, with a natural mountain stream and pools.

Located just outside the lovely village of Buttermere, its an easy 10 minute walk either down a pretty bridleway or along the road to two lively pubs, The Bridge and The Fish which both serve food, and 2 cafés serving hot food and local produce all year, one of these has just been listed in The Independent 'Top 50...

We loved Bowderbeck and had a wonderful few days here with immediate family . We adored the cottage and had absolutely everything we desired. We had taken all food and drink with us so as not to waste time shopping whilst there...we enjoyed four very full days walking in the mountains around picturesque Buttermere. What a gem of a farmhouse. Very comfortable, well furnished and equipped and in a great location just above the Buttermere lakeshore path. We loved the stone floors and the stone mullioned windows set in the thick stone walls. As storm Abigail howled outside we were warm and cosy in front of the stove with a glass of wine. Magic.

Lovely house with beautiful views towards Buttermere from the verandah. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. Swam in the lake (with wetsuits!) and enjoyed walking in the local area. The teenage members of our two families (aged 17 and 16) enjoyed walking in the hills and swimming in the tarns. Would recommend the beer at the Kirkstile Inn in...

There is a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room, separate dining room and a wooden verandah extension with a large west-facing balcony with panoramic views of the valley, which is a wonderful place to sit out in the summer with a pre-dinner drink to watch the sun go down!! There are four bedrooms; one double, one twin and a single upstairs; and bunk beds in the verandah.<BR><BR>The living room is comfortable and spacious, with a cosy wood burning stove and a lovely view down to the lake from the window. There is no TV, but there are plenty of books, playing cards and a whole cupboard of board games and jigsaws to keep you occupied! There is a separate dining room which can seat up to eight people. The price is fully inclusive of all bills, bed linen & towels, we also provide a one basket of logs, you can buy more at the local farm. Bowderbeck can sleep up to 8 people between Easter and September and a maximum of 6 people between October and Easter as one of the bedrooms is in a wooden annexe which is not centrally heated which is fine in summer but not very comfortable in winter.

Once in Buttermere you do not need a car as the village is walking distance.<BR><BR>The nearest airports are Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, and the nearest train station is Penrith. A car is essential.<BR><BR>
