The home boasts a large, fully-quipped, eat-in kitchen with flat screen TV for simultaneous cooking and socializing or, take the dinner party outside to the spacious covered patio to enjoy the long, warm evenings. When it’s too warm to cook inside, fire up the patio’s grill! Afterwards, for whoever wishes, head over to the living room and spread out on the comfortable couch to watch a movie or play your favorite board game. Over a century ago, a working mill stood on this property that provided flour for the then-large town of Merl, a bustling village on the Mosel River, known for its great sun-exposed vineyard sites. As the family grew, my great grandfather knew he needed to expand his home. Fortunately, the mill operated on a large parcel of land, separated from town by only a half mile but with enough space for one more house and expansion of the original Dreiherrenmuehle. As the need of house-milled flour declined significantly, the mill sat unused and slowly deteriorated. My father and mother grew to appreciate the charm that these homes had to offer and started to renovate them one by one in the 1990s, restoring them to their original glory. Meanwhile, they had acquired a few of the vineyards on the best plots and began making Riesling. Earlier this year, my wife and I completed renovation on the final house on the property, bringing brand new touches and fixtures while preserving the historic integrity of the home itself. We welcome you to be our guest in our home away from home. More

About the neighborhood
The Mosel River winds through the steep and narrow, vineyard-draped hillsides with small village towns lining the base of the valley and castles perched on its hilltops. Largely cultivated by the Romans, the Mosel Valley has become world-renowned for great Riesling among other wines and a flourishing culinary scene. Charming half-timbered houses lay side by side with beautifully modern architecture along cobblestone streets, welcoming to those on foot and bicycle alike.
Getting around
Cars are of course very useful for traveling longer distances and bicycles are welcome almost everywhere for more scenic routes or exploring the small backroads of villages. River shuttles and boat tours provide a great way to visit neighboring towns on the river itself. For those not in a hurry and looking for a little exercise, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards are abundant on parts of the Mosel as well.
