First of all, you are not going to find more wonderful hosts than Eliette and Mark. They were welcoming, gracious and incredibly helpful with all things local, from restaurants, to weather to hiking and driving directions. Just that alone would have been enough to make our stay exceptional. But the property and its location were amazing. There is a short drive off the highway 6 up to their property that becomes a little steep and bumpy, (the last sections are unpaved but very manageable in a sedan) but makes for some incredible views of the valley on the way down. The property is immediately adjacent to a national park and so you feel like you are right there in the jungle, but safe and sound in your brand new casita. There are two individual and private casitas on stilts looking right out into the trees and vines with exotic birds flying through. The deck sits perfectly to view the beauty while well protected from the rains storms that cruise by.
Our breakfasts were wonderful - a combination of fresh fruits, eggs, local breads and homemade jams, yoghurt, granola, Costa Rican coffee - we ended up having an early coffee and light breakfast followed by eggs and toast and more coffee later in the morning, all sitting out on the deck revealing in the sights and sounds of the rain forest. There lovely black lab would come down and joins us which helped us not miss our own dogs too much.
