My wife and I stayed at Le Villeberry in early October. We had mixed weather but were never short of things to do. You are only 20 minutes’ drive from some of the most spectacular coastland scenery that you will find anywhere. We particularly liked the owners’, Stuart and Anne, recommendation for a beach at Port Blanc. We took the ferry over to Ile de Brehat and had a lovely day walking around the island, experiencing at least 3 and a half season in one day. We took our bikes and stayed closer to home, enjoying several excellent rides through the quiet lanes around the gite. Le Villeberry is in a rural location, but that is one of the charms of the place, so make sure you have everything you need before come home for the evening.
The gite is spacious, well equipped and finished to a high standard. The grounds are lovely and, at the time we were there, the trees were laden with apples, of which “Villeberry” is a variety. A delightful bonus for us on a couple of mornings was to see a young deer grazing in the garden. At night you could also hear a couple of owls hooting in the adjacent barn. Anne and Stuart are welcoming hosts, managing perfectly the balance between making sure you have everything you need and leaving you to your own devices.
This area of Brittany is blessed with great food and we particularly enjoyed the fish and seafood available in Paimpol, superb quality and reasonably priced.
We would thoroughly recommend Le Villeberry as relaxing and comfortable accommodation offering a real experience of Brittany’s northern coast.
