Beautifully restored accommodation
Beautifully furnished accommodation which has been finished to very high standards. The owner welcomed us on arrival and showed us how everything worked which was greatly appreciated. We were also fortunate to be given a tour of the abbey ruins which can be seen from the windows of the apartment. You can also clearly see the sea in the distance and take a scenic walk to Winchelsea beach which takes about 40 minutes. We especially enjoyed sitting on the private terrace and the hot tub which is set in a secluded garden. An excellent place to stay and highly recommended.

A glorious location for a special occasion
Everything was wonderful about our stay at Eagles Nest. The apartment was immaculate and equipped with high quality and beautiful furnishings; the views of the ancient ruins from the windows were stunning; the hot tub was a dream; the terrace was a great spot for evening drinks and Caroline was the most perfect host. Our stay was to mark my 60th birthday and Caroline could not have been more hospitable – presenting the most spectacular cake and local sparkiing wine and stoking up the hot tub every day. She and her husband – who gave us an entertaining tour of the ruins –also made our dog very welcome. It could not have been better. Thanks guys!

Sublime.
Stayed three nights. Very restful. Quiet. Lovely beds. Superbly decorated and fitted out. Excellent views. Caroline was a wonderful host. Good base from which to explore the coast or, as we did, the lovely gardens at Sissinghurst, Gt Dixter, Penshurst and more. Did a very nice circular walk from the Eagles Nest, along the Royal Military Canal.

A calm and beautiful retreat.
Not been to this area before - really loved Winchelsea and Eagle’s Nest exceeded all our expectations. Our young dog was made welcome by our host Caroline and everything had been thought of for our comfort and his. A beautiful setting, amazing interior, woodfired hot tub in the enclosed garden - so relaxing and the delicious welcome pack an added bonus. Our 3 day break felt as relaxing as a week away and we’re so pleased we chose Greyfriars.

Wonderful winter break at Eagles Nest
After a busy few weeks of wedding prep and then our wedding day, this was the perfect, most relaxing getaway that my husband and I needed. We were equally happy checking out the beautiful towns and seasides of Rye and Hastings as we were staying cosy in the apartment with the fire going. The views of the grounds are wonderful to wake up to, everything in the apartment was comfy and felt luxurious. Rye and Winchelsea offer some great eating spots - fish and chips at Marino’s Fish Bar and dinner at the Plough were particular food highlights. We definitely plan to return; as lovely as I’m sure it also is in summer it truly was wonderful for a winter break.

Special Weekend in a Very Special Place
My 3 close friends and I have just returned from the most wonderful long weekend at Eagles Nest to celebrate one of us turning 50. The property is so beautiful in a stunning location with incredible views. The owner Caroline was so very helpful and even provided Champagne from the local vineyard along with a cake to help us celebrate. We felt thoroughly spoilt by Caroline who couldn't do enough, even down to having the glorious outdoor hot tub hot and ready for us to get into when we got back from a busy day out. We couldn't wait to get back every day knowing that was waiting for us. The facilities in the property are superb and very good quality - we didn't want for anything. The beds were the comfiest we have ever slept on! The area surrounding Greyfriars is beautiful and steeped in history. The local vineyard, Charles Palmer is worth going to for the beautiful views while sampling the wines. We would all like to return. Thank you to Caroline and her family for making our break very special. Sam, Paula, Mandy and Claire

Beautiful property with every home comfort
Have just returned from staying in Eagles nest at Greyfriars for 7 days. This is the most beautiful property with everything you could possibly need! It has the most comfy bed I have ever slept in and the most amazing tub and shower in the en-suite bathroom. It is perfectly situated near to Rye which has countless restaurants, we liked Marcos Mediterranean cafe, Webbes at the fish cafe and Haynes the best but we didn’t try them all so there are probably other little gems! We also visited Lamb House NT which was very interesting. The balcony on eagles nest was also great for afternoon sunbathing and relaxing also there is a hot tub in the garden The Monastery ruins are an amazing site to wake up to every morning. Will definitely be returning!

Wonderful stay
Very helpful hosts, great communication and a very warm welcome. Property is very well decorated, really comfortable beds, and a luxurious place to stay. The grounds are excellent and the hot tub was a great added extra. Place is perfectly located to visit local beaches, and Kent towns such as Rye and Hastings, it also has a welcoming pub near by.

Absolutely fabulous stay in luxurious apartment
Our stay at Eagles Nest was everything we had hoped for and more. The apartment is decorated exquisitely, with bathrooms like a 5-star hotel and the beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Everything had a first-class touch, even down to the contents of the welcome basket. The host Caroline was so welcoming, and it was lovely to hear about Greyfriars, its history and the renovations. We will certainly be visiting again.
