Dirty caravan park
We have just returned from our stay at Robin Hood caravan park. We stayed in a tent but was disappointed to find we where very far away from the toilets even though we requested to be near as my wife is heavily pregnant. She was simply told to 'drive to the toilets' by we assume one of the owners. We found them to be very rude and patronising. We arrived on the Friday and even though the facilities clearly needed updating they where reasonably clean. By the Sunday however, the toilets had not seen a cleaner the entire weekend as they where in an appalling dirty state. Mud was trailed through the facilities including all over the toilets and sinks. Dead wasps and flys which had been all over the floor the entire weekend, still lay there every time I entered and some of the toilets where blocked with toilet paper and faeses. There was not a hand sanitizer station in sight. I think this would be especially useful at the taps and bins around the park, and the play area, like we had seen earlier on in the summer at a much better, more efficiently run caravan park. In these current circumstances, it is imperative for a caravan park to have clean facilities and an over all safe environment for its guests. This was unfortunately not the case here and we would never again book to stay at this site. I would not recommend it anyone.

Internet is a whole new world
Booked and paid online and received an Email the following day to say my booking was no longer available as they were all booked up. I’m a programmer and the software (even if free) wouldn’t overbook for the few caravans they have, even really poor software couldn’t make that mistake - so I assume they have given to people staying on, or friends/ family....I’m still waiting for them to credit a pound they took from my credit card - wouldn’t normally care but when I booked I assumed we were good to go, my son was looking forward to it. You are probably best ringing them as well as booking online to confirm they have the places available before you plan your hols, they probably do this often and nobody says anything.

Beautiful caravan park
Just spent 2 nights here with grandchildren for the purpose of visiting Flamingoland. Booked at last minute and was a bit apprehensive as my memories of caravan parks are of loud club houses and arcades I was complete blown away, the park is beautiful, peaceful and very well maintained. The caravan where we stayed was absolutely immaculate and looked brand new. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it

Lovely!
We’ve just returned from a week staying in a static caravan. The site is clean and well maintained and fairly central to all that the area has to offer. The caravan itself was immaculate. Beds were more comfortable than ours at home! One small gripe, the duvet in the double room was quite stained and grubby, fortunately I bought my own with me as I have to have my own! Apart from that, everything was clean and good condition. On arrival we were desperate for a cuppa but the on site shop had no milk which I found odd as it was check in day and surely we weren’t the only ones to need a cuppa! We were then directed to the little shop 100yards down the road only to find it was closed and does so on a Saturday (check in day) at noon. Site staff surely would’ve known this! All a bit baffling to me! Anyway, once in the caravan there was a little tea tray with those little sachet milks which in desperate times were sufficient. Moral of the story, make sure you stop en route for fresh milk! I thoroughly recommend North Yorkshire, it has some stunning places to visit, all of which can be reached by car in an hour or less. We used the park and ride facility (Monks cross)for a trip to York and so happy we did. Free parking, kids under 16 free on bus and £3.20 return per adult. No hassle and stress finding parking in York. Goathland is an absolute must, the drive through the moors is breathtaking. Castle Howard is stunning. We were sad to leave this beautiful part of our country, and the quality accommodation helped to make our holiday one to remember! One thing I’d like to point out though is on check out I handed the key back to staff in reception and was quite surprised that there was no ‘did you enjoy your stay?’ ‘ have a safe journey’ or any interaction whatsoever, even when I commented on the change in weather to try and make conversation. I actually found this rude and discourteous. A little customer service goes a long way and courteousy costs nothing! Very disappointing end to a wonderful holiday.

Very disappointing experience
One star is too many. We camped in the tent only section for one night however we did plan on staying for the whole weekend. The camp rules where very strict(no more than 2 dogs per tent, no groups, no fires or barbecues)When I visited a booking error was made and the staff where extremely rude. At 8.30 in the morning we were told we had to leave and that we had made a fraudulent booking! The owner of the site? (woman) repeatedly accused us of fraud even when we offered to pay extra to stay the rest of the time. We also were over charged for cars we did not have. (No apology or refund) The lady was generally very very rude even when faced with politeness and reason. Our children where very upset to have the trip cut so short. Our daughter who has autism and relies heavily on routine was distraught that we had to leave and simply couldn’t understand why this was happening to us. The location is very nice and the village pub too, however i can not comment on the food as we had to cancel our reservation and go home! I Will never be visiting this site again, and I would recommend anyone thinking about visiting to find a nicer site in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. At times like this we wish we could review guests like yourself to warn other accommodation providers what to expect when you book with them. I will add background to your review which ironically does not actually state the reason why you were asked to leave. You placed a booking for one tent pitch which was reserved for you and the appropriate fee charged for the booking. You checked in as normal and was shown where to pitch the tent. It was only a little time later when we were working on the park did we notice that all was not as it seemed. Instead of erecting the one tent, you thought it was ok to erect 3 tents and put a camper van on the pitch too. Not only is this not allowed or paid for, but it affected the enjoyment of other people staying on the park at that time. This is not acceptable. At no point did we accuse you of fraud despite believing this was exactly the case. After chatting to your ‘friends’ it turned out that not only were you not paying us for all of the pitches, but you had charged the others in your group the full amount as if you had – meaning you were making a tidy little profit from the situation. We explained to the other members of your group that had the pitches been available we would have been happy to relocate you, unfortunately as it was a busy weekend in August the rest of the park was full. It is a shame your children’s weekend was spoilt, however perhaps in this case instead of pointing blame at us you may want to look a bit closer to home.

Highly recommend!
We (my wife, our 2 children and nephew) recently had a 3 night stay at the park and couldn't fault it! We found the owners to be friendly and the whole park had a nice relaxed feel about it. The holiday home we stayed in was of an excellent standard and condition, it was certainly great value for money. The location of the park is ideal as a base for exploring North Yorkshire and the coast. The local village, Slingsby, is a nice quiet village. It has one pub, The Grapes, which was a bit quirky but I recommend visiting the next village Hovingham. It's a bit bigger than Slingsby and has a couple of pubs, we visited The Malt Shovel, which had a great traditional pub feel about the place, and the Landlord was really friendly and good with the kids. He also advised us there was a big children's playground in the village which the kids loved! It's just a shame we got the weather wrong by a week!

Never again!!
Please do not stay here...the owners (managers) are very rude. The static caravan was inadequate & dirty. The site in general was ok but the people running it are out of this world. There are plenty more sites to choose from, so please, do not book to stay here.

I am very sorry that you were unable to discuss your complaints with members of staff during your stay since we have no reports matching the description of your review. As resident owners we live on the park and are available to guests 24/7 and a contact mobile number is also available in our welcome guides giving guests the opportunity to contact us at any time of day or night. Had we been given the opportunity to look at the alleged problems I am sure that we would have been able to rectify them. Sadly we were not given the opportunity to do so. I would be very grateful if you could contact me with details of the unit you stayed in - and the dates - so we can have a look into the description given. Beki
