This property is absolutely amazing. The views over Barga are stunning and the mountain climate is very comfortable even during heat-waves. The small town of Barga is about 10 munites away with a car and has many restaurants and shops. The pool area on the property is perfect and with that view, you don't ever want to leave - very Instagram friendly.😂🤳 We will definitely visit again!

Hoog in de heuvels bij Barga ligt dit typische Italiaanse huis. Goed onderhouden, van alle gemakken zoals vaatwasser, wasmachine, oven, magnetron etc. voorzien. Door het tweede kleine kastanjehuisje heb je ook een extra koelkast. Aan het huis is een fijn overdekt terras met prachtig uitzicht op het dal. Hier is ook een prima BBQ die je goed kunt gebruiken. Er is achter het huis een soort inpandig buitenkeukentje waar je de wasmachine, extra 4 pits gasfornuis, oven en toilet hebt. De infinity pool (zwembad) is fenomenaal. Hier kun je ook weer overdekt zitten als je wilt in een prettig zitje. Ook zijn er diverse strandstoelen en ligbedjes. Het zwembad is hoger gelegen dan het huis en prima bereikbaar. Wij lazen over een koelkast aan het zwembad, deze is echter niet meer aanwezig. De eigenaren Simonetta en Marco waren zeer vriendelijk, gastvrij en bereid om altijd te helpen bij vragen. Er stond in de twee weken dat wij hier waren ook drie keer iets lekkers op tafel als we 's ochtends wakker werden, zeer gastvrij! De pizza oven gebruiken de eigenaren liever niet meer dus verheug je hier niet op. Barga zelf is een rustig historisch stadje waar je een paar leuke restaurantjes en lekkere pasticceria's (lunchroom) hebt. In de zomer is er regelmatig wat te doen op muzikaal gebied. Lucca is een grote stad redelijk in de buurt waar je bijvoorbeeld over de stadswal kunt fietsen. Het strand van Viareggio is 5 kwartier rijden. Er is een kleine supermarkt in Barga en een grote op 20 minuten rijden. In de buurt geen Lidle of iets dergelijks. Enige minpunt vonden wij de weg vanuit Barga naar het huis toe. Met name het laatste stuk is zeer smal en onoverzichtelijk mocht er een tegenligger aankomen. Als je dit niet erg vindt en houd van rust en op zijn tijd een uitstapje wilt maken dan is dit huis een aanrader!

We had a magical stay at Mengarino. The property is beautifully situated above Barga with magnicent views of the Apuane Alps The house is wonderfully rustic and the converted barn useful for additional friends or family The highlights are the outside areas....the pool is stunning and we had many memorable evenings dining on the terrace I’d can’t recommend this place enough Fantastic!

One could not tire of the view from the edge of the infinity pool across the valley to a stunning mountain range! The property is quite remote but all the better for it. The accommodation is quite flexible with the second house being very usefu for our party of six. The owners are very friendly and helpful, not to say skilled pizza makers. Barga, about 8km away, has a lovely old town and all the facilities needed for an excellent stay.

The house was well-maintained and clean and the gardens and pool were immaculate. The owner, Simonetta, was attentive and very friendly. She ensured that we understood the local area and we had her number if anything extra was needed(which it wasn't). Simonetta and her husband Marco even hosted a pizza evening using the pizza oven on site. It was a unique experience and in many ways the favourite part of our stay. The house itself is historic and positioned on the side of the rugged hills surrounding Barga and it provided amazing views of the valley and the hills opposite. This gave a fantastic feeling of peace and tranquillity. The swimming pool garden was the signature of the property as it is elevated above/behind the house and was a lovely area to relax and enjoy the lovely pool and the weather, which was mainly hot and sunny with just a couple of days of cloud. Needless to say our young children remained around the pool for days on end and this was no hardship for us! Barga itself is a very pleasant town and was a ten-minute drive down the hills. There were a number of really good small towns within easy reach and Lucca was magnificent, although an hour away. A number of our friends are already wanting to book this house on the strength of our photos alone!

Marco and Simonetta were the most helpful hosts we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble, and we had a fantastic holiday.

My family and I stayed in Mengarino for a week in August. It was so much better than we had anticipated. The rustic farmhouse had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. The farmhouse is situated high up in the hills over looking Barga so the views were amazing. The large garden area with an infinity pool overlooking the mountains was a perfect place to relax. What really made the holiday for us was Simonetta and Marco's Italian hospitality. On our first morning Marco had left us some jars of honey to try from his local bee hives. On Wednesday night Simonetta and Marco cooked us some amazing Tuscan pizza's in their clay oven, which we've been raving about to our friends since we got back. The farmhouse is in a great location 5minute drive to Barga and close enough for day trips to Lucca and Florence. Thank you so much Simonetta and Marco for making our stay so enjoying. It's the best place we've stayed in Italy.

You wind your way up the hills to Mengarino which is situated high up above Barga. Simonetta was there to meet us having kept in touch during our approach and showed us around the farmhouse and second apartment. Having settled in we wandered up to the pool, and oh my word, it was stunning! The views defy description. During the week Marco came up to check the pool and ensure we had everything we needed and brought up some honey and a semi freddo which was both thoughtful and spoiling . On Thursday Marco, Simonetta and their son cooked the most delicious pizzas in the property's pizza oven. The houses have everything you need and Marco and Simonetta ensure your stay is perfect. Sitting outside under the covered area by the farmhouse you really are in your own little bit of heaven.
