This accommodation in a Tuscany villa has it all, from a huge swimming pool to sprawling grounds and all the amenities indoors. One of the owners, who lives on the estate in the family villa, is American and she's furnished this holiday villa in Tuscany to American tastes. So relax! Lounge at this Tuscany vacation villa, take a refreshing bike ride to nearby Certaldo (we highly recommend exploring the Pretorio Palace), or take a day trip to Florence and beyond! There is another villa, Villa Sella, right next door (with its own pool), as well as two recently completed restored apartments, which share the pool with Villa Certaldo and the owners. (******* m2/3,******* ft2) Enter the estate of this historic 14th century villa via a private gate and find yourself in a garden filled with cypress, pine, and oak trees. The historical significance of the estate is underlined by the fact that it was occupied during the month of July 1944 by German forces and used as a command post, and subsequently liberated by allied forces as the front passed through the region. Several underground WWII hideouts are still visible in the nature reserve woods of the estate. On the estate is a large shared swimming pool, open from early May to early October, (16m x 6m, 0.8-2m deep) surrounded by terra cotta decking, while over 35 lemon trees release refreshing scents into the air. From the garden, you'll look towards the medieval town of San Gimignano. Although the estate is shared, you have a private 100 m2 yard with garden furniture and a barbeque. You will also have a 60 m2 courtyard with lemon trees and a covered terrace overlooking vineyards and the valley. One third of the remaining land is a nature reserve—a wooded area inhabited by wild pheasants, rabbits, boar, and hedgehogs. Another part of the estate is used for olive tree cultivation, and there is also a resident horse that enjoys free grazing around an ancient Roman fresh water spring. Private parking is available within the property grounds. (174 m2/1,873 ft2) This Tuscany accommodation comprises the totally private east wing of a 14th century villa. It was renovated in 2005 and has a private entrance, parking, covered terrace with table and chairs (the terrace shares a wall with the Villa Sella terrace) and garden. All appliances and beds are new and meet American standards for comfort and service. Wireless connection is available at no extra cost to those traveling with their laptops. There is also an in-home computer with a printer and scanner for use 24/7 at no additional cost as well. There is also a mobile phone with a prepaid card for guest use. Floors are all terra cotta. The bathrooms are furnished in Carrara marble and equipped with dual voltage plugs for easy use of foreign electric appliances. Ground Floor: Enter via a private courtyard to find yourself in a living room furnished with two sofas (one is a sofa bed suitable for one, with a 120 cm mattress), an easy chair, a writing desk, fireplace, satellite TV, and DVD player. There is also a writing desk with a computer, printer, and scanner. Wireless internet connection works throughout the home and garden. Lithographs on the walls depict 19th century Rome and the countryside, while double doors allow access to the covered terrace with steps leading down to the private yard. A dining room has a table seating ten, with large arched windows overlooking the countryside. 19th century oil paintings depict members of the Medici family. The adjacent kitchen has an electric stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, American coffee machine, espresso cappuccino maker, and a small breakfast table. There is also a guest WC with toilet and sink. The ground floor bedroom is wheelchair friendly, and includes a 160 cm queen-size bed, a writing desk, easy chair, and wardrobe. There is an ensuite bathroom with sink, shower, and toilet (not wheelchair accessible). Double doors from the bedroom open onto the courtyard. First Floor: Sixteen sandstone steps lead upstairs, where you'll find two more bedrooms. The room directly in front of you contains a 160 cm queen-size bed, wardrobe, writing desk, and a hidden wall safe. An ensuite bathroom contains a large corner bathtub with handheld showerhead, two sinks, a bidet, and toilet. The other bedroom on the first floor contains a 160 cm queen-size bed, double doors opening onto a small private balcony, a large walk-in closet, and a writing desk. The ensuite bathroom has double sinks, a toilet, bidet, and bathtub with showerhead. Between the two rooms there is a laundry room with washing machine, dryer, and sink. Extra Services: The following are listed as an aid for trip planning; the services and prices are approximate and cannot be guaranteed by Rentvillas. About the neighborhood
The property is located four kilometers from Certaldo, which has all the necessities combined with small-town charm. Pick up groceries or eat out in the modern section and spend the rest of your day exploring Certaldo Alta, the old medieval village. In July, you may find yourself in the midst of a lively Renaissance festival, complete with street artists, actors, musicians, and more. And don't forget to get your fill of medieval architecture! You can explore the Pretorio Palace or marvel at the profile Certaldo castle cuts across the sky. Like museums? Visit the house of Giovanni Boccaccio (author of the Decameron). Day trips can take you to San Gimignano, Siena, and Florence. Pisa and Florence airports are easy arrival points where you can rent a car. Nearby Attractions: Horseb...
