Villa
Designed by Geoffrey Bawa Claughton House is spectacular. It is one of the, if not THE luxury villa along this coast line and boasts 3 master suites; all with air con and ensuite with ocean views. Open plan and open sided dining and sitting area. Acres of garden. Pool. Pool side pavilion with BBQ. Direct beach access to seasonally safe swimming and surfing on a beach that is mostly deserted.
The bedrooms are separated in two buildings. 3 king suites in the main house and the other 2 in separate buildings accessed by a covered walkway. One of these bedrooms has a TV in the hall area.
The slope down to the pool..and further along to the beach.. is stepped.

The best holiday experience of our lives
Without comparison, Claughton House (managed by Jack of Eden Villas) provided us the most incredible holiday of our lives. From the moment we first contacted Eden Villas, their help and guidance was fantastic (covering all the advise, logistics and pre-arrangements we needed to have a perfect holiday for a family of 5).
Upon arrival at Claughton, we were greeting by the amazing staff and one of the most stunning properties we have ever stepped onto. The Villa is wonderful, but the absolute hero is the spectacular landscaped grounds and incredible views of the ocean - as the waves roll along the cliffs below the property and onwards to the mile long golden beach break in the distance. A private entrance to the beach made it feel like our own private island.
The other incredible hero of this show is the House Manager and Head Chef, Ajith. He and his team prepared beautiful meals for us every day and night and everything was perfect. His culinary range and skills were excellent and his team would buy all the ingrediency for us on demand, so we had a customised menu - which is always handy when travelling with young children.
The bar service was also brilliant and of high quality, with our glasses always topped up and many cocktails in the repertoire. I love that they also take the time to chill all the glasses before serving drinks - 5 star training in effect there.
If this property is available, do not delay - book it. If it is not available, do not delay and contact Eden Villas to book any of their other spectacular properties. They gave us a 10/10 experience which bettered any we have experienced before.

An absolutely stunning villa
This villa was the highlight of our visit to Sri Lanka this time. Overlooking the sea, it has stunning sprawling lawns and the most beautiful pool we've seen. The rooms and shared spaces are really nicely done up and with private access to the beach below this villa was the complete package. The beach is really really clean and just has a surf school or two on it so we were practically the only ones on the beach in the evenings.
The in-house staff (a big team too) was so hospitable and went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay without once invading our privacy. And we have to mention the fabulous food made by chef Ajith (with soo many delicious veg options for the few vegetarians in the group). We ended up asking him to make us more meals than we intended to because of how good it was and even a BBQ by the pool.
In short, we can not recommend this villa enough.

A Wonderful Stay in a Highly Unique Property with an Amazing View, Great Comforts of Life and Strong Sense of Design
The pictures don't do this place justice - the pictures are fantastic, but the actual location is amazing. What you also don't get a feeling for in the pictures is the amount of natural wildlife running throughout the grounds - fireflies at night, peacocks during the day, monkeys in the morning, squirrel/chipmunks running around, giant snails, monitor lizards, eagle/kites in the palm trees; the home's ground dogs are also super friendly. The staff is a joy to work with, and Chef Ajith's baked crab dish was among the highest praised by our group! Keshara's smile and spirit is also wonderful to witness and interact with. We don't want to leave!!!

Amazing house, hospitality and location
Everything about this house was first class. The staff were all exceptional, stand out being Kayshera. The food was delicious and always fresh, service perfect. It is a truly beautiful house and location. The wildlife in the garden was an added bonus. 100% reccomend this house, locations and hospitality for a family trip.

A beautiful stay with the kindest staff!
The staff was so lovely and accommodating- Ajith and Keshara were so pleasant to work with and everyone was so impressed with the level of service, the quality of food and their kindness throughout our stay!
The property is absolutely breathtaking- the views were endless and all round it was serene!

Unforgettable Experience! 10/10
One of the best experiences we’ve had anywhere! We’ve stayed in some of the best resorts in the world but CLaughton House was next level. The service is impeccable and extremely attentive. They anticipate your needs, and tailor your experience around your wants. The villa itself it stunning, with the living area at the heart of the house. The beds are extremely comfortable, and everything was super clean. And the food? I could write paragraphs just about the food. It was all extremely fresh, homemade with love, and delicious. The pool is stunning, and the yoga pavilion is lovely for some early morning stretching. The staff were so friendly and so accommodating, it was my birthday and they went above and beyond to make it extremely memorable. We’re already planning our trip back! Thank you CLaughton House!

The most spectacular position, the most charming staff, and wonderful facilities especially the pool!
One never tired of the view from the house towards the beach and the ocean. The bedrooms, bathrooms and showers were of a high standard commensurate with the style of the whole place. The staff were attentive, polite and welcoming. The catering was excellent and very flexible - adjusting to the needs of the young children, the teenagers (e.g. early dinners and late breakfasts), and all the adults' special requests. This was a three generation family gathering, and it was impossible to think of anything that could be improved. All requests for Tuk-tuks to get us to the local town and beaches were handled very efficiently.

Extraordinary family holiday
Claughton House and it’s wonderful team of staff have made our family holiday, to celebrate our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, truly magical. The house is really something special, as are the gardens and all the wildlife that call it home. The staff have thought of everything, treating us all with such warmth and kindness, and the food has been exceptional, thank you Chef Ajith! The pool has kept us all entertained for hours and it’s position overlooking the ocean is the stuff dreams are made of. Having direct access to the beach (which we swam in daily) has been a highlight too along with all the tuk-tuk rides to other local beaches. I could go on and on! We will remember this trip for a lifetime. Thank you.

Stunning house with charming staff and wonderful food
Claughton House is a magical place. An architectural gem with incredible views and direct access to a surf beach. The villa manager Ajith is a fabulous cook and runs a team of wonderful staff. We absolutely loved it and will be back. It's a perfect spot.

Perfection
The house passed the most basic test - beautiful in the good photographs on the website, but much more stunning in reality. Even better than the house, the team at Claughton are really exceptional. Ajith is very professional and produced the best food we had while we were on the island - much better than either of the Amans.
