The layout of the lodge is: Lounge - with log burner and three sofas, a pool table, a football table, a TV that can be used for games consoles (guests would need to bring console) and also a plasma with Sky HD tv (including all sports) Dining room - with two round tables, one seating 10 and one seating 4 Kitchen - with breakfast bar for three Utility Room - with washer / dryer, second sink, drying area Bedroom 1 - Double with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet Bedroom 2 - Two singles (& travel cot) with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet Bedroom 3 - Double with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet Bedroom 4 - Double with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet Bedroom 5 - Two singles and a bunk bed (for two) - with plasma tv and dvd (no tv signal - just for dvd) Bedroom 6 - Downstairs double with no stairs from front door with ensuite shower, washbasin and toilet There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with roll-top bath, washbasin and toilet We allow one or two dogs - that have to stay on the ground floor (Bed 6 is downstairs) Immediately outside the house there is a patio area with 2 wooden benches, two chairs and large table. There is parking for up to 8 cars in the large car park which is at the end of the drive near the house. The pool is heated and open from 1st June to the end of September. It is 3ft 6" sloping to 5" maximum. It is a private pool for the house - not shared with any other house. Guests will need to bring pool/beach towels for use by the pool. The pool uses an eco-friendly heat transfer system to heat the pool - it relies on the heat of the air to transfer to the water (therefore if there are periods of cooler weather the pool will not necessarily be that warm). From the car park there are two shallow steps down to the house level, and then one step up into the house. Bedroom 6 is on the ground floor so one or two persons with limited mobility could use Riversdale Lodge. We are dog friendly and allow a maximum of two dogs per stay. There is a charge of £35 per dog and we do not allow the dogs upstairs in the house or on the furniture! Bed 6 is downstairs - and it has a wooden floor so okay to sleep with you dog/s In the same room. We do ask that dog owners clean the lawns of any doo doo's before they go. Perfect stay for large family gatherings/celebrations.
Believe all the 5 star comments. 3rd time staying in this excellent house. Having stayed for long weekends in '22 and '23 we decided to give a summer week a go. Whole family stayed, 6 adults and 3 children. All perfectly accommodated and very comfortable. Every amenity and need is catered for as far as self catering requirements go. Plenty to do in the area, or not, depending on your fancy. Fully entertained ourselves all day and into the evening using just the house and facilities, no problem. We simply chilled around the house and immediate local area having stayed in Symonds Yat annually for 25+ years. House is big enough for large families to mix, interact yet also have independent quite time away from each other if desired. The ladies took opportunity to downtime in the huge roll top bath in the family bathroom for example. The pool was perfect for the family. Children loved it and were straight in within minutes of arriving. It is perfectly heated, approx 30° so can be used even on cloudy days and the reasonably shallow depths meant the children had plenty of confidence. Lots of nature to see. Deer, squirrels and robins everyday, peregrine falcons teaching young to catch prey. BBQs in the courtyard with the large benches made for a great end of day with the sun lighting up tree covered East face of the Symonds Yat gorge as a backdrop. All bedrooms are comfortable and ensuites are well stocked with essentials such as quality hand wash, soft toilet roll, and thick towels. Ye Olde Ferrie Inn well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. 25 minutes walk along picturesque lane along river. Saracens Head serve substantial baguette lunches perfect reward for the 4 mile walk to Biblins Bridge and up the East side to the pub. Taking the rope ferry back to the lodge. Easy access to the river through the bottom garden gate for kayaking or paddle boarding. Facilities in Monmouth 20 minutes down the A40 are plenty. We used a Chinese takeaway one night (menus in the hall table). Dealing with Chrystel is easy and efficient. Communication is timely and detailed and reminders are in plenty of time. We will return for more stays for sure.

Beautiful Scenery, lovely house
This house was just what we wanted for a family holiday, ranging from 4 to 89! There was 13 of us and a dog. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. There was a pool table and football game, indoors, and plenty to do outdoors for the children, they loved the zip wire. But the highlight was the pool, which was heated. Chrystel was a lovely lady, with good communication. The view from the house is beautiful, and the river is at the bottom of the garden.

A comfortable house for a group in a beautiful setting
Eight members of our family spent a lovely long weekend at Riversdale Lodge to celebrate two 80th birthdays and everyone had a fantastic time. The house is lovely, comfortable and very clean, set in a gorgeous position in Symonds Yat - we felt totally relaxed immediately on arrival. The beds are very comfortable, the communal spaces inside and out were spacious and everything needed and more was provided. We spent much of our time outdoors; the garden provided so much to keep our grandgirls happy - a warm pool, a zip wire and a trampoline - no chance of them being bored for a second! The adults loved the pool, too - the weather was a bit cool after some hot weather, but the water was pleasantly warm. We loved having the gate to the river, where wild swimming in the Wye was greatly enjoyed, along with pleasant walks. Sitting on the terrace in the evenings with the sun shining on the rocks opposite was just lovely and the sound of the river at all times was delightful Besides cooking meals in the very well-equipped kitchen we enjoyed meals at Ye Olde Ferrie Inn and also ate at The Saracens Head Inn, crossing via the hand-pulled ferry - free of charge if having a meal at the inn. Chrystel was an excellent host, who provided a splendid welcome and excellent communication and information. We would recommend Riversdale Lodge to anyone considering a stay in the area with a group of family or friends, and we would love to return.

Beautiful holiday house
We had an amazing long weekend. Highlight has to be the pool as it was so warm and clean. House was so comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovely walk up to the bridge and then back to the pub. Great fun crossing the river on the river ferry. Such a great location. Lovely owner and very responsive. We will be back!

A perfect birthday stay!
Stayed at Riversdale Lodge with family to celebrate my 60th birthday. Couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to stay! The house and grounds are beautiful and the views from the house are stunning. Good size en-suite bedrooms all lovely and clean. Comfortable living room with wood burner, TV, pool table and table football also well stocked with games, magazines and books. The kitchen and utility area had everything that you could possibly need , and a wonderful dining room which had enough seating for us all. The whole house is amazing and very homely. We were lucky enough to visit when the pool was open, which everyone enjoyed! Could not believe how lovely and warm the water was. Some lovely walks nearby and a couple of lovely local pubs. Communication and assistance from Chrystel the owner is great, answering any questions or queries very quickly - even returning clothes left behind by one of our party! We will definitely return !

Great place to stay in a beautiful location
Riversdale Lodge is a great place to stay. It is a lovely house with spacious comfortable bedrooms, a large living room with pool and table football and a great dining area with more than enough room for the 14 of us to eat and enjoy our evenings together. The house has a beautiful garden running down to the river with picturesque views of the river and valley. You don't need to drive anywhere as there are so many lovely walks right on the doorstep and the ferry which goes across to the pub on the other side of the river is just a short walk down the lane. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day.

Family Christmas
We've just spent a weeks at Riversdale Lodge as a family of 11 from 3 months-90 and the house was great for all of us. Plenty of space, well stocked kitchen and lovely gardens! The location was perfect to drive to the local towns and also Ye Old Ferrie in a gorgeous pub within walking distance! Chrystel is a great host and nothing was too much bother! Would love to return in the summer and enjoy it again and enjoy the gardens and pool. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful Riversdale Lodge ❤️
Riversdale Lodge provides a wonderful, comfortable base for exploring Symonds Yat and the surrounding area. The house is spacious and well equipped, with a games area, swimming pool and the added bonus of river access for canoe and paddle board enthusiasts. We enjoyed every aspect of the property but a highlight was enjoying a drink on the terrace whilst the evening sun lit up the rocks of Symonds Yat. As a family we have stayed in many holiday homes and this is definitely the best. It has everything - our family ranged from 3 to 77 years and everyone had a great time.
