Casa del Tramonto (House of the Sunset) is situated on a hillside with wonderful views over the Val d'Arno. The building itself is reported to be a monastery originating from the 14th century, and has been restored using the original stone in the typical style of the region. The tiny hamlet, where Casa del Tramonto is located, is just 5 km from the ancient walled town of Civitella in Val di Chiana.
We've created three self -contained apartments from the south west facing portion of the old monastery, each with fantastic views - “Le Stelle”- The Stars, on the top floor, “La Luna” – The Moon on the 1st floor, and “Il Sole” – The Sun on the ground floor. Time and effort have been taken to ensure that the original features in the building have been preserved in the typical Tuscan style. Contemporary fully fitted kitchen, with granite worktops, oven and hob, breakfast bar with stools, dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge freezer, microwave oven, cooking utensils, cutlery and china, iron and ironing board. Spacious sitting room with comfy sofas, dining area, tv, dvd player. Marble inset log burning stove for winter months, archway through to dressing room and seating area, beyond which is large luxury bathroom in Travertine stone, with glass shower cabin, large bath and twin sinks, with feature lighting.
Separate cloakroom, wc with bidet. Bedroom with king size canopy four poster bed, Tuscan style dressing chest and feature lighting.
The apartment is suitable for a couple, or couple plus one child.
All linen, towels and pool towels are included in the rental.
There is a hairdryer in each apartment.
Cleaning is not included in the rental and costs 50 euro per stay.
The Guest Terrace with barbecue, and dining area with covered pergola is directly in front of the apartments and looks out over stunning views of the valley and the Tuscan hills beyond.
The gorgeous swimming pool, 6m x 12m is located in a breathtaking position with spectacular views, above the olive terraces which stretch down the hillside. The swimming pool terrace also has an outdoor eating area with tables and chairs, as well as sun loungers and covered pergola for shade. On a promontory above the pool under the olive trees is the Lavender Terrace with seating. Our vineyard runs alongside a tranquil lane planted with cypress trees. From the upper terraces, there are several natural viewpoints overlooking the valley, from which you can read, picnic and enjoy the most stunning vistas. As its name implies, we have the wonderful sunsets over the rolling distant hills of Tuscany.

Casa del Tramonto is situated in a perfect position to explore the whole of Tuscany. We are in a tranquil spot just 15 minutes from the A1 Florence to Rome Autoroute, and within easy reach of all the top Tuscan destinations, such as Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Monte San Savino, Cortona, San Gimingnano, Montalcino and Montepulciano, Assisi, Castiglione del Lago. The immediate neighbourhood, and our little nearby town of Civitella in Val di Chiana, in an unspoilt part of Tuscany with breathtaking views over vineyards and olive groves of the beautiful Chiana Valley. Getting around
The best way to explore the surroundings is by car.
From Arezzo you can take the train to Rome, Florence and other towns along the Railway.
