Casa La Portaccia is one of the the towns original houses built on the edge of the wall which give this house its unique and wonderful views over olive groves and the valley below. It also has a rare advantage of free parking outside but is within a 2' walk to the main piazza. The town itself has many restaurants, bars, shops and weekly food market. From here you are within easy reach of many nearby towns including Sansepolcro which houses the famous painting of Piero della Francesca, Arezzo which is famous for its monthly antiques market and Florence is an hours drive away.

This is the perfect place to centre your visit and organize daily excursions. The area is also known for its fresh food produce and wines. There are various wineries where you can have a guided tour followed by wine tasting.

The house was clean and comfortable and light. It also had character with shuttered windows and large uncluttered living areas and bedrooms. The kitchen was modern and equipped for cooking our own meals. The view outside was fantastic and we could walk through the town...More

Anghiari is a lovely medieval town lying between two river, the Tiber and the Arno. The powerful thirteenth century walls made the town an invincible fortress which constituted an important reference point and kept the Tuscan flag flying during the many historical events that occurred in this delicately balanced border area. On the 19th June 1440 the famous Battle of Anghiari which was subsequently painted by Leonardo da Vinci in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, reaffirmed Florentine rule in Tuscany.
