We stayed here as a family of 6 including a 3 year old child for 7 nights from 19th-26th July. I am amazed there are not more reviews on this website for this place as it really is breathtaking.
If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, it is secluded and feels like there is no one around for miles. Unfortunately, this review will not let me attach photos but I have literally dozens. I will have to describe the place with my words!
The trulli structure of the main building is so beautiful. Trulli's are specific to this area of southern Italy, it was nice not to need to go to the busy touristic town of Alberobello to check them out, as we had our very own! The inside of the trulli is very traditional, with a lovely dry stone interior and it was amazingly cool! We couldn't believe that even in 35 degree heat, no air conditioning was needed as the trulli design keeps the place completely cool. Each of the three rooms had its own ensuite bathroom, which was a massive bonus!
The fully functional kitchen and lounge area is off in a separate little building which is all exclusively yours when you book it too. We made good use of the washing machine and the dish washer. All towels, glass wear, crockery, barbecue utensils are provided. You literally just need to pop out and get some great food and wine and enjoy the scenery.
The pool is an absolute highlight, the design and incredible filtration system keeps the pool clean, there was not so much as a leaf or a fly in sight. Its also bigger than some pools in hotels! There is a little section that is really shallow which was just perfect for the little one to get used to it!
Getting up and doing yoga every morning by the pool before taking a dip, then having breakfast whilst watching the little swift birds swoop in for a little swim, was bliss. The whole outside terrace area is wonderful for socialising, and there are many pool loungers to relax on. It is also the perfect place to witness the spectacular evening sunsets.
The gardens surrounding the whole property are immaculate too and provide an array of things for you to sample, we used the mint, rosemary, thyme, bay, citronella ( to stop the mosquitoes), peaches, apples, pomegranates. It was delightful.
Few other things to note:
-It is far out, from the town and the airport. You will need a car, and the roads can be treacherous, especially at night. We did get around though, just be aware of parking ahead of time. We went to Plione Beach which is about 20 minutes away, Brindisi, Poligano de Mare, and Torre Canne.
-The hosts were wonderful, they helped with the initial things we noticed like the outside terrace and pool lights did not work, but that was quickly rectified. But they do not speak any English. We also speak no Italian! If you need to communicate, it seems whats app translations work better than face to face, but we still managed to convey what we needed via hand gestures, gesticulations and a few words we learnt! In fact English is not spoken in most of that area, petrol stations and supermarkets can be a challenge!
-This was exceptional value. We booked through booking.com and trust me, I am well travelled and there are not many places in the world where you could get a place this large exclusively to yourself for well under £2000!
This place is truly an undiscovered gem, and we would love to return. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
