This is as close to paradise as I've found in the Americas. The house is stunning, and the landscaping is extraordinary. While it's only minutes away from an excellent supermarket where you can buy virtually anything you need, the house is situated in a stunning rainforest and you feel miles away from it all. You couldn't ask for a better pool -- you may never want to leave the house! Michele was extraordinarily helpful and responsive, and you'll find it difficult to find a better host. We loved this place, and will definitely return (the rainy season must be particularly special here).

Sensational rainforest oasis just minutes from the beach!
Everything about our Casa Uvita experience was so incredible, where do I begin...a superb location maintaining a perfect balance of privacy and seclusion, while still only a 10 minute drive to multiple beaches, restaurants, waterfalls, and so much more! When we weren't horseback riding on the beach, ziplining through the Osa canopy, or swimming at Manuel Antonio National Park, we spent our time at Casa Uvita swimming in the serene pool, enjoying the ocean views, bird watching, and eating at the delicious Early Bird Cafe (conveniently right on the property!). I truly appreciate the sustainable nature of this home; this is the perfect place to unplug and escape the stress of daily life (although Wifi is available, if you so choose). Michele was a kind, gracious hostess, and so incredibly knowledgeable about the abundance of flora and fauna around the home. I will certainly be visiting again, and have already recommended Casa Uvita to my friends and family. 10/10. Overall an unreal and unforgettable experience.

Beautiful house in jungle setting
Casa Evita is nestled into the jungle environment with the sounds and sights of howler monkeys and aracari toucans entertaining your early mornings. The casa architecture is inviting and spacious, with large windows and openings that blend the inside and outside environments as one. The pool is inviting and can be used for lap swimming or just relaxing, great for kids to burn off some energy. The lush foliage around the casa and grounds is colorful and tropical. The on-property cafe means you don't have to prepare meals if you don't want to. The view of the ocean from a higher elevation is attractive. Casa Uvita is an inviting peaceful location located 5 minutes drive to beautiful beaches.

Great Jungle Getaway!
Our family (2 kids and 2 adults) had a great time at Casa Uvita! This was our second stay there and it was great both times! Plenty of space, everything we needed to prepare meals, very comfortable and breezy! It’s wonderful to disconnect and get back to nature and this is the perfect place for that. Awesome views with beautiful sunsets. We saw a sloth and 2 howlers too! It’s perfectly situated close enough to the stores and beach but far enough out to feel like you are deep within nature. We booked horseback riding with Saul which was a great time! We’ll be coming back ASAP!! Thank you Michele for being such a wonderful host!

Fabulous stay for six person three generation family
Casa Uvita on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica provided a terrific six day vacation for our three generation family of six. Each family member had his/her favorite porch for views of the Pacific, the forest with lots of birds and animals, and the beautiful pool. Michele and her staff were terrific helping us find the best zip lining, Tarzn ropes, horseback riding right from our dooor and of course the best beaches. Breakfasts were fabulous and when our New Years Eve reservations fell through even cooked us a lovely celebratory dinner. The house is large and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook in several nights, the pool was beautiful and just right for short laps or simple lounging while we chatted. We all highly recommend Casa Uvita for a wonderful vacatin.

Fabulous
Casa Uvita is a marvelous off the grid luxury home. The house can happily accommodate either a couple like us or a group of family or friends of multi generations. There are many spaces in which to enjoy the outdoors in or out of the sun. The pool is very private. The view over the jungle to the Pacific is breathtaking. Sunsets are magnificent. The range of tropical flora and fauna is immense. Before breakfast we listened to the howler monkeys and then were able to watch as many as 5 at a time as we ate our breakfast. The Casa Uvita facility is made infinitely nicer by the presence on the property of the owner, Michelle and her staff. Michelle is a fountain of energy and information about the flora and fauna and the many, many activities possible in the Uvita area. She is quite delighted to share her knowledge. She has recently opened a breakfast cafe on property. We enjoyed breakfast there each day from the menu which included fresh fruits, just baked breads and pastries, and a full eggs and bacon meal. Conversation with Michelle, her staff, and other cafe guests was a great way to start each day. The staff will provide massage, yoga, or various hikes if desired. Equally they are wonderful making reservations for any of the Costa Rican adventures like zip lining, paragliding, whale watching, birding, or exploring the national parks. Casa Uvita is first rate for a restful respite from the world or as a base for adventuring

Paradise in Costa Rica
Casa Uvita is true paradise. The home is beautiful, well maintained and tucked away in the mountains surrounded by jungle with an amazing view of the south pacific ocean. Every day we saw monkeys, birds, and other wildlife from one of the many outdoor living areas. The pool was a huge hit with the boys. Michele is a wonderful hostess who helped us schedule fabulous local tours to include horseback riding, fishing and kayaking. She also provided advice on different beaches and the best times to visit during our stay. Her knowledge of the local area was exceptional and extremely helpful for our daily excursions. Johnny, the caretaker at Casa Uvita, guided us one afternoon to a local waterfall and swimming hole which we had all to ourselves! If you’re looking for peaceful tranquility and blissful seclusion in Costa Rica, look no further and stay here, you will not be disappointed! Thanks Michele and Johnny for an unforgettable family vacation! It was truly hard to leave. We will be back! Pura Vida!

Beautiful, peaceful stay in Uvita
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Uvita! The house is located on a dirt road (perfect for walking), just 10 minutes from the beach and grocery stores, etc. in Uvita. The house is beautiful, well-stocked, clean, and comfortable. There are many outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We spent hours in the hammocks watching the monkeys and birds, and enjoying the breeze. While we were there at the hottest time of the year, sleeping under the ceiling fans was comfortable. Michelle went above and beyond to make our stay great. In advance of the trip, she helped book excursions for us to go zip lining, waterfall repelling, and horseback riding--all were amazing. She and Johnny (the caretaker) were quick to share wildlife sightings with us. Johnny took us on a hike to waterfall swimming hole one day. While the house is spectacular, Michelle's hospitality made our stay even more memorable. We can't wait to return to Costa Rica and Casa Uvita someday!

Eco home, rain forest, view of beach
I read all 50 plus reviews before our trip, and I have to say, they were all true. Michele was the perfect host making sure all our needs were met. She was always available and provided us with information on beaches, restaurants, birds and more. She took us on a birding hike, and her assistant, Johnny, took us to an amazing waterfall with a beautiful swimming hole beneath it. The house was clean and had everything you might need. Beds were comfy. It is truly a beautifully built very spacious home in an excellent location minutes from the beach and Uvita. All the bedrooms are very private, three with attached lovely baths. The pool, and view of the ocean from nearly every window, was fabulous. You need an all wheel drive vehicle to make the short trip up to the house. But the best thing was the wildlife... We were awakened by howler monkeys and parrots every morning by 5:30 a.m. What a thrill! And the toucans were everywhere. We saw many other species of birds, basilisk lizards, a sloth and more. Michele also hooked us up with two excursions: One a night walk and the other a birding tour followed by a good Costa Rican breakfast. Thanks to Michele for a fabulous week.

Casa Uvita is located in Uvita, Puntarenas, Costa Rica (20 min. south of Dominical). It sits on the edge of primary rainforest, only 10 minutes from Playa Uvita, which is part of the Marino Ballena National Park.
Uvita is located 20 min. south of Dominical, on the Southern Pacific Highway (Costanera Sur). Casa Uvita is 2 km. east of Cabinas Gato, on the road to La Union.

How to get there
​​Once you are in Uvita, keep heading south on the Coastal highway (Highway 34). Pass the first supermarket (next to Banco de Costa Rica). Cross a bridge. Pass the BM supermarket (next to Marino Ballena restaurant). ​Turn left at the next road, across from Naluri stone work. There is a small 'Casa Uvita' sign on our road. Follow the road 2 km. east, straight up the mountain road . There will be one fork in the road where you will see another 'Casa Uvita' sign. Keep going straight, veering slightly right. Casa Uvita will be visible from the road, on the left-hand side. It is a two-story green and yellow house, with a stone retaining wall.
