Cottage
A converted barn holiday cottage, with hot tub and stunning views over open countryside. Pen Fistla Barns, in the village of Penllyn, near Cowbridge, were converted first in 2005, transforming a once working farm yard into a beautiful family home. In 2008 a single story stable- type barn was also converted as part of the overall accommodation, providing a range of expertly restored rooms, with natural stone walls, wood burning stove, oak flooring and exposed beams throughout.

Pen Fistla Barn is a hidden gem in the South Wales Valleys and I think is going to become a regular holiday cottage for us. The owners, Rob and Ceri are lovely and will do anything for you. The Friday of our week was a cold and bitter day and we came back to find that the log fire had been lit for us, delightful and very thoughtful. Our taxi couldn't find us on the day we left so Rob communicated with them to find the Barn. A well equipped and comfortable cottage, with everything you could possibly need and the views from outside are some of the best we have ever seen, so beautiful. Can't wait to visit again !

Perfect location, perfect cottage with all mod cons, very clean and very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful countryside all around yet convenient for shopping and eating. Wonderful coastal walks close by.

We had an amazing week at Pen Fistla Barns and would recommend it to anyone - couples of families. Rob & Ceri gave us a lovely warm welcome and always stopped for a chat when they saw us around the property (though they were never intrusive at all); they made every effort to provide whatever we needed and to solve any issues. The accommodation is very warm and comfortable, with an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with wood burning stove, two bedrooms and wet-room with a fantastic shower. There is terrace outside looking out over the countryside where you can sit with a glass of wine or to eat if the weather is OK (we had unusually hot and sunny weather when we were there!). The Barns are located in a tiny hamlet up a typically tiny Welsh road, and the location is very good - within 45 mins walk of Cowbridge and a short drive to Cardiff or the South Wales coast. Great base to explore this area of Wales. We enjoyed watching the sheep in the field next door and the bats and swallows in the evening. Very peaceful and relaxing break.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful, beautiful location. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable with all facilities we needed. The owners were friendly and helpful, and we found plenty to do despite the awful weather. Just 30 minutes from Cardiff and handy for dropping onto the M4 to get to the Gower. We would definitely recommend this cottage, and will hopefully return next year.

This cottage has been thoughtfully designed - the sitting room with it's really fire was a fantastic focal point. It was clean and ver comfortable with enough seating for everyone. The bedrooms are a good size and have everything you need. Ceri the owner is very welcoming and left a starter packet including delicious Welsh cakes. We were only there for a weekend break but would have loved to have stayed longer. We had a Chinese meal in River View restaurant in Cowbridge which was excellent.

This lovely cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay in the Vale of Glamorgan, the location chosen for exploring the coast, castles and villages in the area. The owner, Ceri, is very friendly & helpful & made sure we had everything we needed. Being near to Cardiff for the Dr Who Experience was essential for our teenage daughter, but we also visited Penarth, Cowbridge, Caerphilly Castle, St Fagans Castle & museum as well as Swansea and the Mumbles. The Red Fox, within walking distance of the cottage, The Quarter Penny Cafe in Cowbridge & the Mughal for indian cuisine close by on the A48 are a few of the lovely eateries we tried. I would recommend highly recommend Pen Fistla Barns to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

A lovely "get away from it all " location with friendly on hand owners ready to assist. A holiday with great grandparents and a 7 month old baby, was never going to be easy but it worked! Great accommodation for all ages.

This is a beautiful barn conversion that is well-equipped and warm. It is a great location with the countryside on the doorstep, lots of opportunities for walks and it is so quiet and peaceful. It is also within easy reach of Cardiff which has lots to offer all ages (especially if it is wet!). The whole family enjoyed staying here and the children particularly liked the large trampoline in the garden.
