I spent many years in the wine trade in London, promoting wines from Languedoc and the Rhone Valley and i will be delighted to point out wineries to visit or interesting up-and-coming vineyard areas. Having managed the French program of a wine-tourism agency and organised many press and importer's trip over the years i also hire my services as a tour guide and can provide day trips or even plan y a truly bespoke tour for your entire stay.
We celebrated a friend’s birthday at this beautiful and relaxing farmhouse and gite. We enjoyed our days by the pool, eating figs straight from the tree! Highly recommended place to explore this wonderful part of France.

Thank you Pete. It was lovely meeting you all and we are grateful you helped us with the figs...there were just too many last summer.

What a great place!
We (two) couples thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Shepherd’s Cottage. The location was perfect for visiting many of the sites, such as Pont du Gard, Uzès, Avignon, L’Isle-sur-Sorgue and more. The house had everything we needed and the ambiance was great. It was a lovely place to come home to after a day of sightseeing. Sitting on the patio under the fig tree, cooling off in the beautiful swimming pool, soaking up the atmosphere of a centuries old farm, all very enjoyable. There was lots of information about the area, and Sabine was always available if we had any questions. It was a delight talking to her (and her mother) about the history of the farm, which has been in their family since the 1600’s, and the wine, silk and olive production. Would love to return sometime...

Thank you so much for staying with us and your very kind feedback. It is always lovely to have guests with so much interest in discovering the area and the local history. We are certainly blessed with a lot of interesting sites to visit nearby but not everybody puts so much energy into exploring them. We would welcome you all with open arms if you return sometimes...

Fabulous place, people and pool
We loved our stay at Le Clos Massadau. Clean, stylish and comfortable accommodation. The whole place is very relaxing and everything you could wish for in terms of a French holiday experience. This was a return visit after enjoying our previous trip and we will be returning. The lovely pool was a welcome cool-down from the heat of the day - we had 100% sunshine for the whole week.
The village is small but Uzes is a short drive away and is a beautiful town. There are plenty of other activities available such a canoeing, walking, cycling although sitting by the pool enjoying a glass of local wine was hard to beat. I would fully recommend the place for families or couples and we look forward to our return.
Thanks

Excellent value and experience in Saint-Dezery
A peaceful location from which to experience the surrounding countryside and the important cities of the region. Comfortable and well equipped accommodation, greatly appreciated air conditioning in bedrooms and restful outside eating area - and great pool. The hostess, Sabine, was charming, a mind of information about the history and culture, extremely generous in her response to questions and spoke perfect English.

Delightful stay in an excellent location
A charming and very comfortable cottage with all amenities. The air conditioning was most welcome during the current heatwave across Europe. Sabine and her family, together with Emy their friendly obedient dog, made us most welcome. The pool was fantastic at the end of a warm day's exploring and the ease of access to beautiful provencal sights was perfect.

Thank you Lynda, we were all very happy to meet you both. It is quite rare to have guests from the other side of the planet who know France as well as you do. I hope you are having a great time in the Lot and Dordogne. All the best from all of us

Absolutely loved our stay
From the moment we arrived our hosts made us feel so welcome. Our French is rudimentary so we really appreciated that a family member spoke fluent English. We spent a lot of time under the fig tree outside the kitchen door just relaxing and enjoying the treats left for us each day and really enjoyed the way our hosts made us feel like special guests (and dog Emy's regular visits). The setting is peaceful, rural and quiet. The accommodation is well equipped, very clean and comfortable and the kitchen has good appliances. The village is ideally located as a base for day trips to the surrounding towns and Pont du Gard, there is a good Casino supermarket and local produce store at nearby la Calmette and a great boulangerie in lovely St Chaptes, 5 minutes away by car. Loved sampling the local wines and produce and we were farewelled with a bunch of lavender. This property was the highlight of our stay in France and we wouldn't hesitate to return or to recommend it to others.

Wonderful!
We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful couple of weeks here - it was just so relaxing that we really didn't want to come home! The location is ideal, in a peaceful sleepy village set amongst miles of vines. It is ideally placed to visit lots of great places - Uzes, Nimes, Arles, Avignon, the Camargue and the Cevennes. The gite is an old shepherds cottage which has been renovated in a comfortable rustic style - not chichi but with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The kitchen could use a few more implements such as scissors and serving spoons as well as baking trays but apart from that, the house is very well equipped. It is in the grounds of the family property and the owners are really warm and welcoming and we really enjoyed their generous hospitality as well as the regular company of Emy the dog who seemed to arrive as if by magic every time we set the table on the lovely terrace under the fig tree. We were given numerous gifts of grapes and figs from the garden, shared an evening aperitif with our hosts and other guests at their second property, home made olive oil and a bunch of lavender on departure as well as lots of help and advice on places to visit. My husband is a great lover of wine and received excellent advice on places to visit and a personally arranged visit to a local grower was a real highlight for him. The pool was a very peaceful retreat every day amongst the olive groves and we had several table tennis and boules challenges with our teenage son. Overall, a fantastic holiday and we will be back again. Many thanks!

Fantastic Gite in Beautiful location
We stayed for 9 days in this old shepherds house. We got lots of information prior to our visit which was really useful. The Gite is very spacious and was perfect for the 2 of us. We had a really warm welcome from our hosts and whilst our French is not very good we managed to communicate with no problems. Lise was really helpful suggesting places to go. Emy the dog was a very welcome companion in the mornings and evenings when we sat out under the olive tree enjoying our meals in the beautiful garden. There is a pool that we did not use but would be very useful for families. Nearby Uzes is really beautiful and we managed to visit lots of other attractions all not far away. We are now home drinking the wine from the local Wine supplier in the village (well worth a visit for top ups during stay). Will be recommending to friends.

A wonderful retreat
We have just spent a blissful week here. It was great to return to after long mornings out to the peace and shade of the garden. We lived out of doors eating all meals under the fig tree.
The pool was a joy and the six year old in our party loved it. It is kept meticulously clean.
An owl started calling each night at 9.30 and bats swooped as dusk fell.
Madame baked us an amazing greengage tart which was huge and delicious.
If you want a Friday night pizza from the van in the square ring and order in advance.

Dear Anne,
Our little village is very peaceful indeed and our friend the owl is a staple of our quiet evenings. Although i have to confess as a child i didn't find its call very reassuring:) Thank you for your kind words

Quiet setting
My husband and I stayed at the gite for 2 weeks and my sister and her husband for one week of that .The village is very small with no shops so a car is handy .The gite was in a lovely setting and was big enough for 4 adults .We visited Uzes many times for dinner and a number of other attractions as well .It was so good to be able to come back to the swimming pool .Lise was a great host and made sure we had a lot of local information. Emy the dog was very friendly and loved to come to say hello We played boules at the local Petanque area most nights .It was good to be able to park the car next to the gite.

It's always lovely to see that our part of the world is appreciated. Another great cultural première, and kudos for blending in at the village petanque area!
