Villa Cocobolo can accommodate 2 adults with children or possibly 3 adults. Built and designed by the owner in August of 2008 the home has vaulted ceilings of Pochote beams with laurel wood paneling and the verandas, patios, stairs, door and window frames are all accented in teak. Villa Cocobolo has a fully equipped kitchen, comes completely furnished, and is surrounded by lush gardens, white gravel walkways, wrought iron gates for added privacy and private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless satellite internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service if needed. Take time to walk along the trails of our 7 acre property...look for coatis, anteaters, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, and iguanas...or find one of our sitting areas and just watch and listen to the ocean. Our staff can help with any questions or needs, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay with us... THE BEACHES.... Because of rock reefs surrounding the entrance to Playa Manzanillo, this beach has it all. Here you can surf, snorkel, swim, kayak, fish, beach comb, and at the end of the day enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets the Nicoya Peninsula has to offer. The best part about Manzanillo beach is many days the only footprints you will find will be your own. A few years ago Playa Hermosa was basically unknown, but recently discovered by surfers tired of the crowds and congestion of Santa Teresa, this beach is becoming increasingly more popular for tourists and surfers. Playa Hermosa lives up to its name and is truly beautiful offering great waves for surfers, swimming and beachcombing on a long and wide un-crowded beach. To truly capitalize on all the peninsula has to offer, a car or 4 wheeler is a must, but still many of our guests prefer to walk the old beach road to Playa Hermosa enjoying the quiet and slow pace - stopping at the tide pools, private beaches, the waterfall, and always returning with stories of seeing more monkeys and iguanas than people. THE SURF.... Yes, there is surf. A short drive south are the more popular surf spots of Playa Carmen (Mal Pais) and Santa Teresa, but just a few minutes away in Manzanillo and Playa Hermosa you can find waves for all levels of surfing (reef, point breaks, beach breaks, river mouths) – beginner to advanced – with crowd and attitude free, consistent surf. For any surf questions feel free to contact the owner who has over 25 years surfing experience. We can also set-up surf lessons with qualified instructors. THE FISHING.... Manzanillo and north to the Bongo River is an area famous for fishing. You can go local and try your hand at hand-line fishing or bring your own gear and head out to the reefs at low tide. You may get lucky and hook sea bass, snook, red snapper, or a rooster. A quick run north will get you to The Bongo which is legendary for its fishing due to its river mouth - a great place to catch snook, just ask a local family who bought a car they call “robalo” meaning “snook” in Spanish. All the money they earned to buy the car came from selling their snook/robalo catches from the Bongo. We can also book fishing tours for you – just ask.

It was like living the perfect life in the most perfect place for one week only.
I had a wonderful time at Villa Cocobolo, the house had great energy, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the view from the bed both in the morning and in the evening was one of the best I have had the pleasure of encountering. The air con. made indoors and bedtime comfortable, the upstairs balcony off the bedroom was beautiful and it was fantastic sitting up their in the evening watching sundown whilst listening to jungle noise, I was Jane in a Tarzan movie!! Trey and Jacs were amazing hosts and their knowledge of the area and their contacts made organising activities very easy as Trey has been there for 18 years. Also their beautiful boxer dog Zenor was re-assuring to have around as she would bark at noise outside the property, however having said that I felt really safe and secure and not in the least bit threatened. The pool area was perfect and the pool really cool and refreshing with a swim up bar area and food prep/barbecue area in just the right place. The location was perfect with just the right feeling of seclusion but accessible enough by vehicle to lovely beaches bars and restaurants within 15-20 minutes drive away. I recommend an SUV/4 wheel drive vehicle though just for added comfort. Such a beautiful and pretty place with lovely people. Thank you very much Trey and Jacs and all your staff for an amazing week, and a happy new year to you all XXX

Amazing As Usual
Senderos-de-paz is a beautiful, well layed out property on the southern west coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. We've stayed in Villa Cocobolo twice now and the views of the property, pool and ocean are the best. Well ran property with a great private feel. They are very knowledgeable of the area and are eager to help our stays fantastic. Surfing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, fishing all close to property.

Amazing villa
We loved our stay at Villa Cocobolo! The villa and views are EXACTLY as shown in the pictures. It is a little drive from the busy downtown area of Santa Teresa, but worth it! You can hear the waves from the ocean from the bedroom and have an amazing view of the sunset. We were able to take a yoga class as the sun was setting at the outdoor yoga facility which was fantastic! Trey was so accessable with any questions we had and to check in with us. He even set us up with and joined us on an unforgetable day trip to Curu which we were able to snorkle, paddleboard and even fish. We did not want to leave! Amazing view, villa, location and owner!!!

Perfect location, Great house, Awesome view, everything you will
Villa Cocobolo is situated in the perfect spot if you are wanting to be slightly off the beaten track and have a true experience of coastal life in southern Nicoya. The home sits just on the edge of Santa Teresa/Malpais for access to great surfing beaches, restaurants and whatever amenities you'd want from town, as well as being right on the edge of a rural side of Costa Rica that is pure magic. Head south a few kilometers and have it all, head north a few kilometers and have serenity, deserted beaches and explore untouched Costa Rica at its best. The home has everything you need whether you want to cook every night, grill on the patio, chill a few cases of beer in the fridge- crank the aC or open all the windows and doors and feel the ocean breeze. You have an upstairs balcony off the bedroom and a downstairs patio off the kitchen, both great places to hang out, watch the sky change and see all kinds of wildlife working its way through the property to access fruits and flowers planted in profusion. I have stayed in Villa Cocobolo- or one of the other rooms on the property- many times now and will keep going back. Every time I'm there I see Howler Monkeys and frequently see the Capuchin Monkeys coming through the trees literally only 12 feet away from the balcony. The birds and butterflies etc., are as good as anywhere. Over my trips there I've gotten to know the owner Trey quite well as he's not only very likable but genuinely happy being there and doing what he's doing. He settled in the area more than a decade ago and can guide you with a smile to anything you're looking for. Whether that's a restaurant, a spot to fish or surf, a waterfall, a grocery store, deserted beach, European bakery or true local flavor on back roads. Even if you want to look for land or a house while you're in the area he's going to know something valuable, steer you perfectly and share his knowledge of Costa Rica and the area freely. A really great host. Book it without hesitation!!

Wow!!!
My stay at Serendos de Paz in Villa Cocobolo was perfect. The staff was amazing and very helpful and catered to our every need. The location in Manzanillo was awesome as well, peaceful and quite and close enough to town for a little night life, but not too close. Villa Cocobolo was awesome, perfect for our needs and everything we needed to be self sufficient. The view and the jungle and wildlife was incredible. The Howler monkeys came buy the villa everyday at the same time and the green parrots joined us every morning for coffee. It was perfect, the whole experience.

About the neighborhood
Villa Cocobolo is located within a 7.5 acre property named, Senderos de Paz, or Paths of Peace. We are 55 meters above sea level and just 175 meters directly to the mid-tide line. One can walk to the beach from the road that runs in front of the property - it is a 250 meter walk downhill. In only the 1/2 acre surrounding Villa Cocobolo there a are more than 30 different trees (hardwoods and fruit). For this reason, along with the gardens and hundreds of meters of walking trails, our guests can find all sorts of wildlife. Below the property on the old beach road, there is a small waterfall that runs from our spring. On the same road there are also a series of tide pools that run along the road between Hermosa Beach and Manzanillo Beach. On this stretch of beach, you will probably see more animals than people on any given day. Manzanillo Beach (north) is protected by a rock reef, so the waves are smaller, but the beach itself has waves for surfing, spots for fishing and lots of space for relaxing with very few people. After Manzanillo Beach there is a stretch of 4km with less than a handful of homes ending at the Bongo River where one can find an estuary with lots of migrating birds and sometimes the occasional crocodile. To the south is Hermosa Beach which has great waves for beginners to experts and lots of space to relax with friends, couples or family. In the town of Manzanillo (500 meters to 1km), there is a beach restaurant (Bar Restaurant Artadecer Dorado), a nice pizzeria (Manny's), and (Dayka), a restaurant with mountain views, a pool, and very reasonably priced food. In Hermosa, there is an astounding sushi restaurant, Koji's. Nearby in Montezuma, there is a fun hike to the waterfall that is well worth the trip, as well as a fantastic canopy tour. Montezuma also has shopping and lots of beaches (little nooks and crannies) to explore and find some privacy. Santa Teresa, just 10 minutes south, has two banks, shopping, all types of restaurants with food from all around the world, and basically anything and everything you need or don't need.
