Glen-river is a large two bedroom static caravan (size 35ft by 12ft) which sleeps 4+2 and is ideally situated in a peaceful location at the top of the Glen.
It is an excellent place to stay for couples, small families, hill walkers, bird watchers and wildlife watchers as it is at the foot of Heaval (the highest hill on Barra). Many birds and a variety of flowers can be seen around Glen-river.
The caravan is half a mile from the ferry terminal, shops, café, bars, restaurants, the bank and Kisimul Castle. It is 2.5 miles from the nearest beach and 7.5 miles from Barra Airport.

Perfect Barra accommodation
Glen-river is a spotlessly clean large caravan equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very comfy double bed, top quality linen and towels, good size bathroom with nice shower. TV with DVD player and good WIFI. Great location, walking distance from Castlebay and lovely views over the harbour. Fabulous hosts who will help in any way but are not intrusive. Just loved it here and would thoroughly recommend. 5 star x

Excellent accommodation, location and hosts
Extremely clean caravan with lovely views down the Glen towards Vatersay and close to village facilities. Everything you could want for a self catering holiday; Catherine and Ian have put a lot of thought into what you could need including electric blankets just to take the autumnal chill off and plenty of sandwich boxes for your picnic lunches!

Caravan spotless and comfortable, hosts very hospitable. Lovely island with stunning scenery and beaches. Will definitely be back!

Best of Barra
Glen River caravan was great! Catherine and Iain are super hosts who go out of their way to assist. I would recommend to anybody visiting Barra - which is a mini Scottish paradise.

Perfect: excellent caravan, beautiful location and lovely people
We loved this holiday and look forward to returning. The caravan is superbly kitted out, beautifully comfortable and peaceful with great views up the glen to the hill behind and down to the glorious sea. The superb island beaches and the machair full of an enormous variety of wild flowers make for perfect strolling and the hills and moors for more adventurous walking. We delighted in finding a different picnic lunch spot each day, watching the seals on seal beach or the sea birds soaring above and plunging into the water. But maybe what made this holiday extra special, was the lovely warm welcome and kindness of the owners. Sincere thanks to Catherine and Iain.

Excellent
This immaculate spacious deluxe caravan is in tip top order with a superb decking. Car parking, shed for the tandem with washing machine and tumble dryer (although we didn’t need them). We loved the situation-far enough away to feel seclusion yet relatively close to amenities/ferry. Lovely views. Everything is well thought out, easy and lacks for nothing. Lovely friendly hosts. Superb.

Fabulous holiday!
We stayed at Glen River Caravan for four nights this week. The location is absolutely perfect! It is ten minutes out of Castlebay, with fantastic views over the bay towards Vattersay. The caravan is spotlessly clean and very well equipped and, unusually for a caravan, the beds are really comfortable. Catherine and Iain are lovely! They make sure you have everything you need and are very friendly, but not obtrusive. That said, we popped in to say cheerio and thanks on our last night and were welcomed into their home and had a good blether. Nice for me too, because she knew someone to whom I was very close who lived on the island over forty years ago, who has now passed away, and was able to tell me quite a lot about her. Barra is a very beautiful island and there are lots of places to visit, and because of the long sunny days and brief light nights, there is nothing to stop you going back out after dinner and enjoying a Hebredean sunset (about ten thirty) and watching dolphins cresting in the bay. On our first night in the caravan, we saw a Golden Eagle flying down from Heaval. A wonderful welcome to a wonderful place. We will certainly be back. Thank you, Catherine and Iain.

Comfortable, well equipped accommodation, lovely views, friendly owner
We thoroughly enjoyed our four days stay, the caravan was extremely comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The location is brilliant. A short walk from Castlebay, but at the end of a quiet no-through road, where you really feel out in the countryside. There are views of the bay in one direction and of Heaval in the other. We enjoyed watching the birds, sheep and rabbits, including one previously domesticated white rabbit that spent the whole day eating the grass around the caravan. We appreciated the tourist literature, especially the maps and route descriptions of local walks. Catherine is lovely, very friendly and helpful, and we would like to thank her for making us so welcome.
