We stayed for the weekend - a large group of 10 with baby and dogs. The cottage is in a very nice village with lots of shops and pubs, although the noise from the A303 would probably be more of an issue in the summer. The cottage would benefit from some maintenance as there is shoddy flooring in the kitchen,...

Management response:

Many thanks for your feedback and i would just like to address the issues you had: 1. Toilet seats have all been replaced and tightened. 2. Wood burner glass has been replaced 3. Shower fixed. This was fixed in december but the same problem happened for your stay and i did get a plumber round as soon as i was...

Firstly let me start with the positives. The cottage is in a great location, close to the A303, near Stourhead, and Mere is lovely. Picturesque and with great pubs and amenities. The cottage has so much potential. Its large, and has some great aspects, cosy rooms, beams and a wood burners, TV, stereos. The towels, and bedding are clean and...

Management response:

Thanks for all the positive things you have said and with regard to the not so positive things i can only apologise. As soon as you notified me of the leak in the shower i sent a plumber round and i can only apologise that he was unable to fix it and that you only had one working shower for...

Stayed here with friends and a small child for a weekend. Enjoyed the spacious rooms, the range of board games and books, the garden and the big kitchen. Decor a bit tired in places, but we didn't mind.

About the neighborhood
Mere:

Mere itself has many attactions including a huge hill, once the location of Mere castle., which was erected on Castle Hill, north of the church, by the Ist Earl of Cornwall in 1253. It had rectangular corner towers with a round tower on the sides. It was abandoned after 200 years use and by the 17th century it was in ruins, the stone having been removed for local building. Nothing now remains above ground, but the hill still commands excellent views of Mere and the Blackmore Vale.

http://www.merewilts.org/

This vibrant community has four inns, a bank, library, cafe, grocery store, chemist, Indian and Chinese restaurants, a Fish and Chip shop, a post office, trout farm, falconry, clay pigeon shooting, bowling, croquet, gliding,... more
