Tree Top is a brand new purpose-built vacation rental that just opened in August 2017. It's near our Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18 acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.
Tree Top is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!
In terms of size, Tree Top can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or ...

A cabin with a view
You cannot even tell how gorgeous the view actually is from this home. The deck off the living room has 4 Adirondack chairs for lounging. There are also stairs (a lot of them) going down to the river to see it up close, it is breathtaking! We saw some people floating in tubes they brought, looks like a great time!
We came as a getaway for my husband’s 30th birthday with our dog & we all had the best time & are thinking of making it a tradition! I can only imagine how beautiful it is with the fall foliage!
The AC works so incredibly well! WiFi worked well enough for me to message iPhone users but couldn’t make any calls due to no service, which was as expected! Tv in the living room is small but worked great & I was able to plug in our iPad with an HDMI cord to watch pre-downloaded movies during our stay.
While outside you can walk down to the bottom deck where the hot tub is, fire pit & a screened in deck. I was so excited when I saw the screened in area but never tried to go in or go back because the whole bottom deck was filled with webs, so many spiders & kind of just a mess. I know it’s the woods and summer but dusting the outside area to de-web once a week would make it useable, then the whole property can be enjoyed!!
Misc other things to note-
The front door has a pixel image on the outside window but as you get closer to the front door you can see fully into the home.
They have blinds you can pull down on all windows! None on the sliding glass doors or front door window though.
There was an array of cleaning supplies, paper products & tons of clean towels!
The shower in the master was impossible to use, ice cold or scalding hot that only would last a couple minutes at a time. The main floor bathroom though, that shower worked fine so we just used that one!
They have a spacious fridge and freezer, no filtered water built into the fridge or an ice maker. They did have ice trays that were already filled with ice for us to use!
You must take your own garbage or you can pay $5 per bag for housekeeping, we chose that option & they leave an envelope for you to leave a tip in for the cleaners!
Overall, it was such a great stay & we cannot wait to plan a visit in the fall and/or winter! Thank you!!!

Quiet retreat along the river
Great place to get away from it all to a quiet, beautiful space. Well decorated, well stocked cabin with huge windows overlooking the river below and mountains above. Hot tub, fire pit and screened in eating area is very nice and short walk to the back of the house. Stairs lead to the river below where they have canoes ready to use. We hope to visit again sometime! Owners were very responsive!

Enjoyable stay!
We stayed for a long weekend. Upon arrival, we could not get the code to work for the key for the front door. The house manager saw us struggling and immediately came over to gain access for us. He was pleasant and helpful. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed linens being provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

GREAT place to stay on the River
Tree Top Cabin is a great place to stay on the Shenandoah River! This is our 4th time staying at Tree Top. The owners are great to work with and the house is the perfect setup for our family. The house itself was clean and inviting. We enjoyed the sitting on the deck to watch the sunrise every morning overlooking the river and evenings spent in the hot tub or around a camp fire. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make all of our meals. The location is ideal for spending days on the river kayaking or fishing. Shenandoah Outfitters just up the road if you need kayak rentals. We brought our own kayaks and there are plenty of access points all along the area. Just be sure to check the river water levels as it was low the week we stayed and some drop points are better than others. The property rental also comes with 2 canoes which we used more for fishing in the evening. Our dogs especially loved their time on the river! I will say because the house sits high up the mountain bank, there are a lot of steps to get down to the river in front of the house, It may not be best with small children or elderly going up and down the steps unless you want a great workout. The river is rocky in front of the house, so definitely bring water shoes. We absolutely love the area and the house and will return again next year!

Perfect getaway weekend
This place was amazing! We went with some of our friends to celebrate the completion of my masters program. We took our dogs, and they loved the river. We roasted marshmallows for s’mores, went tubing in the river, sat out on the deck, and the kids really enjoyed the spiral staircase! It was the perfect weekend for our friends and family.

Absolutely perfect
The Tree Top cabin was everything we wanted it to be and more. The views from the front porch were so beautiful, we didn't even end up leaving the house once. The house was so spacious and bright, and was perfect for our group of 6. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, grill, and access to the river. We are already planning on returning sometime in the future.

Fantastic Shenandoah Cabin
We regularly rent higher-end cabins in the Shenandoah area, so it was a pleasant surprise that we found this cabin to be the best we have ever visited! The communication from the property management team was on point, the cabin itself is wonderful, the Jacuzzi is well maintained, and the views are stunning! It was going to snow during our stay, so we extended by a day, and the owner was very accommodating.
The only drawbacks to our visit were finding an energy drink can on the porch that had a bunch of used cigarettes in it (must have been missed by the crew - otherwise, the cleaning was very good!), we realized that the Jacuzzi area cannot be accessed from inside the house easily (you need to go out the front door and down a gravel path which was a brisk run in the winter!), the kitchen air vent made a bit of noise (which we were able to fix by blocking it off), the dishwasher is a bit noisy, and the water pressure in the showers was pretty low. None of this detracted significantly from the overall experience, it was still the best luxury cabin we have rented yet.
We will absolutely be returning again!

Nice weekend away!
Wonderful, isolated cabin right on the river! We booked a long weekend away for the family (2 adults, 2 young kids, and our dog). The cabin was spacious and fun for the kids and dog. Everyone loved the main living area, the deck, and easy access to the river. The cabin itself had a few minor maintenance-issues to address, like the shower pressure in the master bath, turning on the indoor, gas fireplace, and the hot tub was a funny yellow color (probably just needed more water). All easy fixes that did not make-or-break the weekend. A couple notes that I was not aware of when booking: the outdoor firepit and hot tub area are not accessible from inside. You have to walk outdoors and down the hill to access. Also, they ask for dogs not to be on the furniture or beds. This was fine for us, but may be difficult for others bringing their pets. All in all, it was a lovely weekend away and we would consider booking again in the warmer months for fishing!

Amazing getaway with even more amazing views
Beautiful property that has amazing views of the stars and river with a comforting mountain feel. The amenities at the property were excellent -- comfortable beds, great kitchen area, awesome fireplace -- and the jacuzzi that overlooks the river and stars out back is one the best features that we have had on a trip. Highly recommended place with excellent staff that is incredibly attentive and receptive when communication is needed!
