Located on the scenic Turquoise Trail, at the Garden of the Goddess Retreat Center is 15 miles south of Santa Fe, and minutes north of some great cafes and the artsy town of Madrid. (Only GOGGLE GPS will get you here.) The property was held for sacred purpose for millennia by native people and is famous in northern New Mexico for its unique rock outcroppings in an oasis environment. This adobe guesthouse is nestled against a giant sandstone wall in the center of the retreat compound. It is two-story and offers one bedroom, one ceramic tiled bath/ shower/toilet with ONE gorgeous, multi-purpose, handcrafted sink located in the kitchen/shared area. It can accommodate up to 4 people with a queen bedroom upstairs, and double and queen futon sofas downstairs in the common area. AIR FLOW: The open floor plan has large windows to bring in light and is designed with great air flow in mind, hence there is no door that separates the common area from the stairs or entry to the top area. EFFICIENCY KITCHEN: located in the common area, it has a small refrigerator, large toaster oven, microwave, induction cooking set, electric frying pan, rice maker, blender, electric tea kettle and Keurig coffee maker in the downstairs living area. (The kitchenette is NOT set up to prepare or cook traditional family meals! However, there is a community kitchen shared by other ranch occupants. It is kept tidy. You are welcome to use it if you leave it as you found it. ) TEMPERATURE: Electric heaters keep you cozy on cold nights. (Sorry our insurance underwriter doesn’t allow fires inside or outside!) A portable air-conditioner and fans keep you cool until the sun goes down in the summer when the very cool night breezes take over—PLEASE OPEN WINDOWS AT NIGHT during the summer. POOCH GUESTS: One easygoing, non-barking, house-broken, small to medium sized, clean dog (ONE!) is welcome if you keep him/her with you at all times, keep off the furniture (or use the sheets in the closet for that purpose), don't leave unattended and scoop up after on LEASHED walks - we provide bags that can be deposited in the outside trash bin. Please let us know your pooch will be coming with you. PHONES AND WIFI: We are nestled in behind huge rocks, so we do not have general cell phone coverage. We DO HAVE an extender that provides reception for Verizon (and affiliates.) We also have a good but rural internet. RETREAT CULTURE: The property is peaceful and generally quiet, but there are 4 other folks and one border collie, who live in the compound one of whom works in the film industry so may keep long hours if a movie is shooting. You may hear a car pull in late because of that, or footsteps or an in-occasional whoop when the bats migrate through, or a baby great horned owl or road runner appear--very exciting things to us country dwellers. We don't generally host parties but there is the possibility of hearing faint bits of conversation from an outside sitting area when guests may be visiting one of the other residences. While it is our intention to always be respectful of others, the property has to be maintained and so the quiet may also be broken by brief interludes with groundskeepers or other necessary repair or delivery folks. There is a shared wall with another guest house. EXPLORING THE PROPERTY: Beyond your own guest house, there is an enormous 'back yard' behind the rock outcroppings that has many fascinating sites of sand stone formations with paths for gentle exploration. Please be mindful of where you are walking as we share the land with numerous critters from great horned owls to bunnies, Bob cats and lizards ETC. These beings are not aggressive to those not in their food chain and some enjoy sunbathing, so watch that you don't step on a lounger and scare both yourselves! Please respect the privacy of other residences (there is a partial wall shared with another guest house.) Please don’t walk behind main house as it sits on the property line. MEET GREET AND HELP! We may or may not be available to greet you, but someone is generally around the property or available within a short time through texting! We are delighted to offer our two cents on yummy places to eat (see below), sacred sites to explore (Bandolier) and places to leave your money in trade for fabulous turquoise, silver and other artistic endeavors! (Many native artists sell fabulous things on the north side of the plaza in Santa Fe!) The owner is a longtime teacher of Toltec mysticism and is available for private sessions when she is in residence. Sorry, smoking IS NOT WELCOME in the residential area as several residents are quite allergic. You can smoke far away from the buildings if you are very careful of sparks and bring the butts back to the outside trash can. PARKING: After you unload, please part your vehicle in one of the parking areas. If it is snowing, and you have to leave, you might want to park by the main gate. We look forward to hosting you!More

About the neighborhood
The Garden of the Goddess Retreat Center is a powerful learning center located in the high desert outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Nestled among ancient wind-carved sandstone cliffs and landscape-dotted piñons, the center offers you the opportunity to connect with the deeply healing qualities of this sacred land. The power of the land, which lies on a rock bed of quartz, amplifies and deepens every experience. This is a place of physical, emotional, spiritual and mental integration. Located right off the scenic Turquoise Trail Hwy 14N between Albuquerque and Santa Fe gives you easy access to explore the many places New Mexico has to offer. Just 20 minutes to Santa Fe where Hwy 14 becomes Cerrillos Road and will take you right to the heart of the downtown plaza in Santa Fe.
