Cabin
The River Retreat is a historic cabin built in 1925 and completely restored with added conveniences you have come to expect but retains a timeless charm. This classic Colorado Cabin always books very quickly for the summer months. The location is stunning and this part of the river is very beautiful. We expect that you will enjoy the sounds of the river, the beautiful mountain air, blue skies and our historic cabin which is nestled between beautiful rock outcroppings, beautiful Ponderosa pine trees and the Big Thompson River. The River Retreat Cabin is about 5 minutes from Estes Park, Colorado and only about 10 minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park. River Retreat has all the comforts of home yet is in the Roosevelt National Forest with hiking trails just out the door and overlooks the Big Thompson river. Rainbow, Brown and Cut/bow trout thrive in runs in front of our property! The setting is absolutely beautiful and convenient as it is just five minutes from the town of Estes Park yet quite, and back away from it all. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals. There is also a relaxing patio including a gas grill for enjoying a barbecue. The main floor bedroom features a queen size bed, and the upstairs includes two rooms with twin beds and plenty of charm. There is a spacious living room and dining area with a gas flame stove for our cool Colorado evenings. The enclosed porch offers overstuffed sofa in a cozy spot for sipping coffee or for curling up with a good book on a lazy afternoon. The cabin also offers satellite television and wireless internet access as well as a smart TV. This cabin is the perfect place to spend your mountain vacation right on the banks of the Big Thompson River as a quiet retreat and a home base for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, fishing, hiking or shopping the many stores in Estes Park.More

The cabin was in immaculate condition for our stay. Would recommend staying here again for anyone wanting a cabin type lodging near Estes Park town limits. Friendly enough area but it is really close to the highway so beware of the noise.

Just exactly as pictured. Very quiet and peaceful, nicely maintained. Clean and comfy, with a "homey" feel to it. Still have a couple nights left here, and enjoying our stay very much! Thanks so much for an easy experience. David and Janelle

About the neighborhood
The River Retreat cabin is in Berthoud Dale, first established in 1925 as a fishing retreat on the Big Thompson river for a small group of families from Berthoud, Colorado. These cabins seldom are for sale and all are quite beautiful and are privately owned. Only two cabins are available as vacation rentals a part of the year, Most cabins belong to families and are used only by the immediate family occasionally so your privacy is assured. This small community is on the far side of the Big Thompson river and has some 'private fishing water' on the river. Rainbow and Brown Trout are abundant in the river and all fishing is classified as 'catch and release'. I have observed that the river insect population and fish are in great condition even after the 2013 flood and fishing continu...
