A special retreat/villa dedicated to those who want peace and quiet and with a studio it also lends itself to group relaxation such as yoga, and activity groups such as cyclists, walkers or runners and we have 8 mountain bikes, It is a place where individuals or groups could go for a peaceful holiday. Please think of the old mill as your own private home for the duration of your stay, and to this end, we've have aimed to make the accommodation as comfortable as possible as well as where you can relax, enjoy the location and environment, and be away from the distractions of everyday life. Well equipped, spacious villa in a lovely quiet location
A great place to retreat for a short break. We hired a car and did a lot of local sightseeing which included going to the beach, visiting an old mining village/markets and going to a beautiful lake nearby.
Mountain bikes were available and a mini bus tour on request if you were in a large group.
The weather was great for October and we would recommend visiting the area as it is a wonderful part of southern Spain.

Great location
We stayed here for our group cycling holiday and loved the location. Some really good cycling routes around.

Paradise
We have been helping Bernard,the Owner with the Mill,and look forward to returning in the near future.The location is stunning,all tastes are catered for,whether it be running,walking ,mountain biking,yoga,or simply relaxing on one of the terraces or by the pool.There are hamlets and villages nearby with the town of Baza about 20 minutes away,trips can be organised to the town or the breathtaking Lake Negratin,almost the Grand Canyon of Spain but with an azure lake.I would advise anyone looking for a short break or two or three week vacation to contact Bernard,a terrific guy who will try and ensure the holiday to remember.

Stunning location with lovely accommodation
Lovely villa with stunning location. Location is perfect for relaxing, it’s remote and surrounded by beautiful mountains, great for cycling and running. The pool is perfect for unwinding or having a bit of fun with the family. Lovely holiday spending quality time with family. Highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

What a beautiful place
I have been going to The Old Spanish mill for about 5 years now. It is remote, it is beautiful and it’s one of the only places on this planet where I can reset on my crazy life.
It’s still, and perfect. I finished writing my last book there that is due to be published soon. If you want solitude, this is where to be.

About the neighborhood
Situated at the foothold of the Los Filabres mountain range near the village of El Hijate. The Sierra Los Filabres mountain range is 50km long.
The Mill is in the stunning Valle de Almanzora which follows a natural pass, and manmade route (the A-334), along the trail of the Almanzora river from Alcontar, close to the plains of Granada in the west, to the eastern villages of Arboleas and Zurgena.
The views from Sierra Los Filabres are truly stunning and there is an old mining village up in the mountain that now has a restaurant and camp-site, there are natural springs nearby, endless trails for walking, running or cycling and day trips we can provide include a visit to mini Hollywood where many of the great Westerns were filmed.
Getting around
We have 8 mountain bikes on site that can be used at £4 per day. If you want a 'car-less' break we can provide airport transfers and day trip, otherwise, a car is needed.

It is 5km off the A334 at El Hijate. The nearest airport is Almeria but also accessible from Granada, Murcia, Alicante and Malaga. We have a mini-bus so can provide airport transfers.
