You are travelling direction PISA. Arriving at Pisa Airport: S.G.C. FI-PI-LI (Firenze-Pisa-Livorno) Superstrada direction FIRENZE (when leaving the airport just follow Firenze/Florence – the airport exit is directly on this road which is a dual carriageway) From FI-PI-LI (Firenze-Pisa-Livorno) Superstrada to Fattoria Santo Stefano Exit Empoli Ovest via Castelfiorentino - (major road advisable if arriving in the dark) Exit Empoli ovest Follow exit round Right at roundabout direction Ponte Elsa/Siena/Castelfiorentino Left at Stop for Ponte Elsa/Siena/Castelfiorentino Straight on for 12-15km approx until Castelfiorentino At beginning of town Castelfiorentino immediately after Esso garage on left turn right at new roundabout into Via Machiavelli and go up over railway bridge (this is immediately before the Carabinieri - police station) Follow road on (about half mile) and go straight over roundabout. At traffic light turn right direction San Miniato. You will immediately go over a small bridge. There is no road name but you are now in Via dei Praticelli which becomes Via Orlo. Another reference is the BAR/ALIMENTARI after 100m on your lefthand side. This is the SP46. Straight on for 6km approx (go past sign Santo Stefano 4km) Turn left for Santo Stefano at junction signposted FATTORIA SANTO STEFANO with two big brown boards with yellow writing. Follow the road up to the top of the hill for 1km. At the top on the left is a big sign and wooden chalet 'The Lodge' which is our Meeting Point. IF YOUR GPS TAKES YOU AS FAR AS MONTAIONE THEN FOLLOW THIS: From Montaione – this is the back way to Santo Stefano. The road is tarmac and then gravel and then tarmac. It is bumpy, dusty and with some potholes!!!. We use it all the time but if you have a very low car or don't want to get the car dirty then you should follow the directions from Castelfiorentino. Please do NOT use this road if you arrive in the dark and are not confident driving in the country. From Piazza Gramsci in Montaione (reference points - this Piazza is the market square and also a big car park, there is a bar called Arci Perla and Pizzeria Erasmus, a Gelateria/Yoghurteria and Il Piccolo Bar is on the top corner of this square) take the small road in the corner of the Piazza direction right towards SANTO STEFANO. Follow this road for 6km until the locality of Santo Stefano. Keep on the main road signposted Via Santo Stefano only and do NOT go down the small side roads signposted Via Santo Stefano with numbers underneath because these will take you to private properties. Keep on Via Santo Stefano for 6km approx and follow it until the end. You will come to a small junction signposted Castelfiorentino to the right and Santo Stefano to the left (do not go left) and Montaione which is the direction you have come from. On your RIGHT there is The Gatehouse Lodge a wooden small house with car park and a big sign outside. This is the Meeting Point.
